Learning SU, simple question about rounded edges?
-
I'm teaching myself SU to make some diagrams for a patent application. I'm generally surprised with how easy it is to use! After a few of Google's intro videos and some poking about in the forums, I've got my gizmo pretty much the way I want it in only two hours. I've never touched 3D before!
Patent applications need to use line art - no shading. Following hints I found here, I turned off face drawing, doubled up line thickness, and set the background color from green to white. This is almost exactly what I need.
But… The one thing that's not perfect is that the rounded corners of my object are drawn as a bunch of vertical lines (it started as a rectangle, clipped the corners with arc, and then pulled vertically). It's definitely not kosher.
I don't know exactly what I want here, perhaps only one or two lines marking the boundaries? In any event I want less than I have now. This doesn't seem to be something you set under Window->Styles?
Any advice?

Can you attach a screenshot, exported image or (even better) an example skp file?

Have you tried deleting them with Shift Erase?
Pick eraser tool hold shift and click and drag across the lines.

Shift+Erase will not delete the edges but hides them. In case of a rounded surface however, not hiding but smoothing is preferred (to avoid faceting). This is done with Ctrl+Erase.

Well the keys are different on the Mac, but after hitting some combination of keys, pop-up menus and checkboxes in the toolbar, presto!
Thanks!

i think Alan Fraser already told you about the key stroke buttons in another thread

Anyhow, to solve the problem, just paint over all the vertical lines with Eraser whilst holding Ctrl down. Done!

Sorry, I was not paying attention on your OS (although this is one of the reasons we require these fields
)Anyway, you got it right now.
