In the new office is that a little refrigerator on the left side of the pic? Having a beer fridge so close to one's desk is a great idea! I have a dual monitor setup at home but my monitors are much smaller. I position them so one is directly in front of me and the other is next to it on the right side. This allows me to treat one as my primary modelling monitor and I keep things like the materials browser panel open on the second. Andrija don't you find working awkward when your modelling window is off to the side like that? I'd get a sore neck - but that beer fridge might make up for any discomfort. Regards, Ross

Thanks, Eric, for the heads up! I'll also try to dig myself into this with my colleagues who use our GIS system here and see what I can come up with.

justin, you are quite right. the problem only happens when i change from dual to mirror mode before taking my lappy on the road. i may have fixed it by opening the displays preferences and juggling things around. it is working normally now.

With a Mac you can have both OS via Booth Camp but with a PC its just XP or Vista. I switched over to a MBP a year ago and haven't looked back. OSX is not perfect but for me I have not run into ANY serious crashes in the last year that has caused me to pull out my remaining hair. Mike

...if your racing the prius. I think the conclusion they (top gear) came to was that its much more about how you drive the car than which car it is. One of the few sensible things to have been said on that program, i was genuinely surprised when they said that, and with such conviction!

It is not a sort of perversion to use Excel as a 3D program? Seems a very strong plugin!

@rudbeckia said: Another question for you...lets say I have a not so legal copy of autocad 2006. Will this work with Windows Vista? If not, what version will?? Thanks for your help! Rudbeckia, please do not discuss illegal software on these boards. If you are a student currently attending a University, you can download the full version of Autocad 2009 free of charge (along with lots of other free Autodesk software) For students, Autodesk do have a lot to offer.

That Photomodeler look interesting for modeling existing buildings. (I work in an architect office.) But I really feel we need another solution for placing existing models. The views we need to show the client or the council rarely ever is anywhere near close to fit the demanding restrictions of Photomatch. And we rarely get a perfect un-obscured view. And to add to that, 90 degree angles are rare! At least in this old city. (Yes, multipin system for textures would be nice. As well as being able to place a pivot point for rotating the texture.)

It has something to do with a drivers. I have had a problem with my Radeon X300 and a 'reverse face bug' even with a FIX option turned on. I have installed recently the most up-to-date driver and I cannot select a single FACE in the SU now !! Only edges I will soon upgrade a whole computer and definitely won't buy ATI card. Tomasz

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the input. It looked like I wasn't going to get any so I tried to find reviews and and hemmed and hawed and finally decided on one that is a little bit more expensive than I wanted to go, and it got mixed reviews, but it had the features I wanted. So I went with the HP 7650. It is a flat bed scanner with an attacehd ADF that does as many as 50 sheets, including legal size. It also does photos and negatives, not tha we need that in a digital world anymore. Anyway, I hope I made a good choice. I like HP and the price I bought this one for was a good deal at CAN$445.

oh yeah, forgot about that Although i still dont think those will be enough to tempt me away yet, i dont do many scenes with complex light setups, so adjusting them isnt too much of a problem normally.

I'm going to run an openGL viewer I ran into today, to see if the drivers have specific problems with open GL 1.5. I'll let you know how it goes, later on.. Regards Guru
