I know the "requirements" are for a 512MB video card, but is this really necessary to support sketchup?

I am in the market for a new laptop(DELL), but it seems that you have to have a gaming pc in order to have the 512MB video card as an option????? I don't want to fork over the dough for an overpowered gaming pc...

I built the following configuration. Will this work for SU? It's a 2.4GHz processor, 4GB RAM, and a 256 nVidia 8600 GT video card.

      Surely this is enough right?

Thank you solo! By the way I checked out your website and you do very good work...wow...

Another question for you...lets say I have a not so legal copy of autocad 2006. Will this work with Windows Vista? If not, what version will??

          Thanks for your help!

            Thanks for the compliment.

Not sure how to answer your question, as yes it will work if you have the administrative rights when installing, but no you should not be installing any "not so legal" software on any machine regardless of the OS.

May i recommend you check out this. Its meant to be a good alternative to autocad, very similar and free. not sure its got all the advanced features of acad but at the very least it will be a good stopgap untill you can afford acad.

Rudbeckia, please do not discuss illegal software on these boards.

If you are a student currently attending a University, you can download the full version of Autocad 2009 free of charge (along with lots of other free Autodesk software)
For students, Autodesk do have a lot to offer.
