What would be even more interesting would be to import a preview texture of the environment map as an environment sphere in SU and use that as a gizmo to extract the rotation you need to position as you want in your render. Then click on the sun position.

I keep having to close all my curtains! the reflections are soooooooooooo annoying on my 24" imac! when I bought my macbook pro I made sure it had a matte finish screen as I just couldn't imagine using a glossy one outdoors. funny seeing android on iphone.....its even funnier when you get blue screen on your mac! or you have to press ctrl+alt+delete

The very reason we have two words - 'opinion' and 'belief' is that they do mean subtly different things - although there usage does overlap in daily speech... An 'opinion' is a subjective statement about an issue, that is either an emotional response or a personal interpretation of some information. An opinion may be supported by arguments or facts, although people might draw opposing opinions from the same facts. Opinions can change when new arguments are presented. It can be argued that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another, by analyzing the supporting facts. A 'belief', on the other hand, is a mental acceptance of a claim to truth regardless of the lack of supporting empirical evidence or facts. A belief will normally be kept despite facts being offered that counter it robustly. Either way, you do not need 'qualifications' to hold opinions or to have beliefs. You can shape people's opinions by rational argument [e.g. 'Synthetic life is good because...'], but you cannot readily change their beliefs [e.g. 'There is no God because...']. Ironically, 'to be opinionated' has negative connotations, but 'to believe' in something is often seen as positive [unless in 'blindly believe...']... Any opinion is an opinion, in my opinion.

Hey, I'm starting on a lavalamp. Modeling's going smooth, but idk about rendering. Gonna be difficult with demos... Turns out that Subdivide and Smooth ($22 from Smustard.com) is almost ESSENTIAL to modeling this. Edit: This is what I have done so far: [image: 6GxJ_Lavalampunf.jpg]

Here is Kapoor talking about his sculpture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An60H5a1OMs and some information on the selection process, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I12tm4JzUOg A few more images of the structure: http://www.dezeen.com/2010/03/31/arcelormittal-orbit-by-anish-kapoor/ and a nice commentary by Dan Fox, senior editor of Frieze Magazine, http://www.frieze.com/blog/entry/political_orbit/ Dan Fox finishes his article with: Kapoor can waffle all he likes about how the tower demonstrates his and Balmond’s interest in ā€˜the way that form and geometry give rise to structure’, but the bottom line is that the ArcelorMittal Orbit is a monument to politics and big business, and as critic Owen Hatherley observes, this kind of ā€œā€˜aspirational’, ā€˜iconic’ but deliberately meaningless, non-figurative edificeā€ fits their purposes perfectly. File under ā€˜art and power’.

1'x1' means my camera has to be about 5' away from the code to be able to get it intot he frame to scan it. I think that is just fine. It should also be at about eye level if possible. My phone like to sacn things straight on, so if it up too high, it will be skewed in the image. If its down too low, the user might have to get down on the ground to scan it. Chris

The lorry driver that chopped the front left quarter of my car off a couple of years ago(I escaped without a scratch) wouldn't have noticed it at all unless the other drivers hadn't started signalling him. Anssi
