Thanks Mac1 for your observations. The component was fine until I added the option to choose a width. It sits 150mm off the ground to allow for a plinth, could be scaled accurately and kept its proportions. Only when I put in the option for width on the parent component did the dimensions go awry. I will have to have another look at it when I get in to work I guess.

RE: Stuck already!
Thanks James, but it seems to me there should be a simpler solution and that I am missing something.
Any other takers? -
Stuck already!
Hi,
I have just started to build a DC for a cupboard which seems to have gone well until I tried to add some component options. I added the option to change the width of the cupboard but the units do not add up. The width should be 700mm but the actual size is coming out at 201.7mm? LenY and LenZ are also wrong.
I can't make any sense of the sizes in terms of any possible metric to imperial conversions.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

RE: SU2KT 3.17 missing bitmaps
Tridem,
just renamed the file replacing the '&' with the text 'and'.
Worked fine.
Thanks very much, I will avoid the '&' character in my files from now on -
SU2KT 3.17 missing bitmaps
I have recently upgraded to SU8 Pro at work
but am now having problems exporting to Kerkythea, the dreaded 'missing bitmaps'scenario.
I have looked through past posts on th KT forums but am still none the wiser. I did not have this problem with SU8 free, and I have an Nvidia 9500 GT card. I am also using SU2KT 3.17. This happens if I put the exported files into a folder or just on the desktop.
Any ideas?Thanks

Chris P 'Colour Edge' strange behaviour
Hi,
I am experiencing a problem with this plugin under the following circumstances.- Create a group or component from any object which is still in default colour
- Apply a material to the group/component
- Activate 'Colour Edge' plugin using 'Colour edge by click' option
All edges in all groups/components in the model disappear! The default colour for the tool is 'No colour' by the way.
This seems to be irreversable. Has anyone else had this problem or would know where the problem lies?
Thanks
Nick

RE: Poke hole through thick wall
Also Push/Pull will remember the depth of your last Push/Pull, and double clicking while using the tool will automatically repeat the same depth. So if you are placing holes it can be easier to draw the outlines of all of them first and then Push/Pull the first one to the correct depth and just double click your way around the rest.

RE: Poke hole through thick wall
When you push pull, hover the cursor over the edge of the opposite side of the wall. The inference engine in Sketchup will 'snap' to that edge aligning the pushed section perfectly, and the face you have pushed will disappear, making a hole. This is best done without a ceiling visible so you can see the top edges of the walls.

OK, but what other 'hidden' gems do we have to find ?
Holy cow! Just came back from work and caught up with the post. will have to have a look in the menus.

You could also set a shortcut key for View/Rendering/Edge/By Axis then you can toggle it on and off as needed.
I don't have that option on my version( 8 free). Which version are you using?

RE: Axes Widget?
Thanks Gaieus,
I will give it a try for a while. It doesn't seem to be slowing down my old machine as yet so might be an option. -
Axes Widget?
Hi,
Does anyone know of a plugin or a way to display the axes as a separate entity in the corner of the screen so that when you are zoomed in to a model you can always tell 'which way up' you are? -

RE: Roadster Update
If you don't want to render it maybe it could go into the next "Render this" challenge? . It is a fantastic model and I would love to see it rendered. Well done.

RE: Export dimensions from SU
Dave R, most of the images are emailed to a factory where they usually end up full screen, which is how I view them. To be honest I could probably cut them down a bit (your latest table image looks good) but I am finding the jaggies vary in smoothness as you zoom in or out of an image anyway. Guess this is as good as it gets. Thanks for your help guys.

RE: Export dimensions from SU
I see what your'e saying about AA in SU,- Leave as much detail in the export as possible and then I will have more to work with in post pro. I will make some tests. Thanks to all for your replies.

RE: Export dimensions from SU
Dave R, yes I did use AA on export. I notice you are using a sketchy style for the overlay example you provided whereas I am trying to use straight clean lines for the dimensions. When I try the method using double the scale and then reducing the image, the lines are still jaggy, even after AA in post pro.
Gaieus, at the risk of sounding ignorant what do you mean by resampling? Do you mean scaling the image back down?
Thanks guys

RE: Export dimensions from SU
Thanks Unigami, I did not know about the 'view size' option when exporting. Just tested it and by using same values for KT resolution got an exact match when overlaid. The only problem with this is the dimension lines are still 'jaggy' without the anti alias from the render process. Have tried anti alias filter in Post pro (I use GIMP) but it doesn't do much.

RE: Export dimensions from SU
Gaieus, thanks for the definitive answer, at least I won't be wasting my time trying to make it happen. I have used overlays before but was hoping for a simpler way.
Thanks again
