Any feedback on this would be appreciated. I've not long started using Vray 6 and still struggling a bit with photorealism. The model of the dog is straight out of the warehouse.
Thank you.

RE: To blend or not to blend
I think printed manuals struggle to keep up with the pace of development of Blender. I had an in depth book a few years ago but now is almost redundant. Even video courses go out of date quickly. I find some of the video shorts a good way of learning in small chunks but it doesn't always fit in context. there are often several ways to do things, at the end of the day it's a matter of practice.. and time.

RE: [Plugin][$] ThruPaint - v2.8b - 20 Dec 24
@Dave-R Sorry Dave, I completely missed your reply. With all the updates this has now been resolved for me at least.

RE: Kitchen render
@L-i-am Thank you. I missed the duplicate pattern on the island. Interesting that you have highlighted some other things I also considered but second guessed myself on. Nearly put a mirror on the wall and the edge of a side table in the foreground, but the dog bed is a feature of the design so can't be obscured.
I think I have a tendency not to over dress the scene but I think a few more of the details you suggest would help. -
RE: Fredo LOTT/V-Ray 7
@fredo6 This is what they told me when I reported it as not working.
"Our developers have found that the issue is that V-Ray can't be used while the Fredo6 Fredo Tools extension is installed and active"
Sticking with Vray 6 until they sort it out- not giving up my Fredo plugins...

RE: ExtensionStore interface issue
@Dave-R Doh! I thought I was up to date. Just installed 4.4.1 and problem is solved.

RE: Kitchen render
@Bryan-K Sorry for the late reply, I've been away.
I like the idea of shutters, it would fit well with the style of building. Definitely will put in the edge of a table in the foreground and try the depth of field.
I would have put more gloss on the surfaces but the brief is for flatter, more natural finishes, and the floor represents an actual product. Looks ok in real life but makes getting a good render more difficult.
Thanks for your comments -
RE: Layout viewport screwed up
@Dave-R Yes, I avoid modifying the camera in LO. At least I have a better understanding of this glitch now and can compensate for it. I also need to be more concise with my models and make better use of tags and visibility. I'm also fortunate enough to have Studio here with the massive power of Vray 6, which is a great incentive to be more organised with it's render layer capabilities.

RE: EMD SD-45 Union Pacific Update
Brilliant. A real labour of love, lots of detail for under 27 mb!

RE: Rework of an old render - Flying car
@Bryan-K Nice. Where can I get one? Also, if there were double yellow lines there, would you still get a ticket? Technically it's not 'on the road,

RE: House Render Sketchup/TM
Excellent render. creative use of assets to make the tyre tracks, although, methinks they start a bit early, the rear tyres haven't been through the puddle yet...unless it reversed up and then left again.
Nothing to do with the quality though, just how my brain works.
