I'm with you on that, I look forward to it everyday. Does that mean I should get out more?
I have mine bookmarked as well.

Rhys, no need to send me a PM. Better to keep it visible to everyone on the thread. That way everyone who has viewed it and contributed knows that it has been resolved and that you appreciated their input.
If I post a question and end up finding the answer myself, I still answer my own post to 'draw a line under it'.
It also means that anyone with the same problem might find the post useful, you never know.
Don't mean to embarrass you or anything, just thought it was worth pointing out. Glad you got it sorted
I have had this problem as well with groups. If you hide objects which are inside a group while you are in edit mode within that group, when you exit edit mode and hit 'unhide' nothing happens. If you go back into edit mode within the group and 'unhide' the object will reappear. It depends on what 'level' within the group you are working at. You will need to mine down into the group and try 'unhide' at each level. Not sure exactly what the parameters are.
A good way to avoid getting stuck is to set up scenes which capture the style and other settings before you start editing. Then if things go pear shaped just click on the scene tab and anything hidden during the edit will be visible again.
Another way to find them is to check the Outliner under the Windows tab, which lists everything in the model. If you click on an item in the Outliner list it will highlight it on the screen
Is this the style you did for the coffee table where you run the shadows only through FS?
Great way of giving depth without the confusion of colour.
Really like this clock. Be nice to see a different background and border colour, the white doesn't sit well at the moment. Maybe render it sitting on a mantle shelf?
Really great. Interesting to see you haven't fallen into the trap of having the spotlights on for a daylight render. Like the wall colour on the first one too, gives it a kick.
Lovely, that will give the client a good impression of the finished product. Weird though, to me the cups and saucers by the utensil rack almost look like they are floating but they seem to be in contact with the worktop. Is it just me?
And I also like your style with the Post Pro.
Fantastic, I almost didn't look at them because I thought they were photos of what you were basing the model on. Then I realised it was the model! You have created a new benchmark.

I could make the trigger a negative distance so zero would be valid.
Sam, that would be ideal or if you want to let me know what to change in the script so I can modify my copy. It is a good way to check that my components are not overlapping.
Thanks...
Just tried this plugin. Very useful thanks. Question though, if you want the spacing to be zero so that objects are touching it doesn't respond. I have to give a spacing of 0.1, but then get cumulative 'inaccuracies' with overall dimensions. Is this a limitation of SU?
Nifty, thanks Jim. Do you mean the script could be adapted to link the numbers to the component? That would be beyond me at the moment.
Well there's a feature I didn't know about. And it does the trick. By giving each instance its own number in the entity info 'name' box and adding a text label to the instance. About as automated as it gets given that I want control over the numbering order.
Thanks
Half sorted. I can make all the instances unique and then number them using the entity info box. That gives me my filter to sort them in the spreadsheet. So now what I want to do is to use that number as a label on the instance in the model,i.e. 3D text next to or on the instance. This would enable me to produce a floor plan of the kitchen with number on or next to the cabinets.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I am trying to find a way to sequentially number the components in my model so they can be exported as a list to a spreadsheet. They are kitchen cabinets in a kitchen design model which I number and describe on an order form.
I have just looked at TIG's Component Reporter which, among other things, gives the instances and sizes of the components in spreadsheet form.(Thanks TIG )
Now what I need is to give each instance a number, the sequence of which I can control, so it will appear in the exported info and on the component in the model. I can then use it to sort the components in the spreadsheet. Is this possible?
Well that explains how I managed to get italics printed before, it must have been rastered. I now tend to use Hybrid or Vector. I am still developing my workflow and presentation methods so I will review how I am using LO.
Thanks Dave
The font is Verdana and there is an italic option for it in the text manager box.
I use dimensions in the model as a visual reference whilst I am working on it, so once I have placed them I don't want to do it again in LO. Although I am still new to LO, I realise there is more control by using it to place dimensions.
However, it suits my current workflow to have the dimensions "live" in the model. I am designing kitchens and I use normal font dimensions to designate existing walls etc, and bold italics for new cabinets and worktops.
The dimensions were placed in SU not LO. I can't select them in LO to change them. They are also attached to components so they update on resizing.
I have both italic and normal text dimensions on my model but when exported to layout they all revert to normal text. I have done this before and it has worked when I was using Vista, I am now on Windows 7. Any ideas?
Thanks
