I think you can only disable it globally, not just for one viewport. However, you can always save a SU file (as..." at a particular time and insert that into one particular viewport and stop "developing" that version and work only on another version of the model. Theoretically you can insert as many SU files into LO as you want.

I'd use Fredo's Bezier Plugin for the framework etc tocreate a series of lines. Then use either 'Follow Me' tool or 'Lines to Tubes' plugin to beef it out! [image: kcy3_Frame.jpg] [image: wR0E_Frame2.jpg]

You can also check out our templates as an example - they all have a set font, arrow head and dimension style per template family.

Alternative, classical, or rock. Usually that is Coldplay, Alan Parsons, Mark Knopfler, Saint- Saens, Strauss, and so on...

Are you actively seeking to open 0.skb? If so, the .skb file extension is the sketchup backup file, not the working file, which is .skp I believe you already know this, so--pardon my repetition above. I have had similar problems but primarily with a usb storage device which either was running out of capacity or which had some other undefinable problem. But you are talking about file use between two computers. My GUESS is that the file should reside completely on the machine you are using, and you should save your work on the machine you are using. Then, if you wish to update the file in the original machine, you should then save a copy of the file to the original machine. Again, this is just a GUESS. Could someone else confirm?

I found that on a Mac, iWork, Numbers (spread sheet) works well,[image: PgaT_Picture79.png] It is not a "direct link" in that it is saved as a pdf, first, and I do not keep the "master file" in my scrapbook, as I want the schedules to be able to be modified. So there is a "master form" in my architectural "templates" folder, that I pull up, make the necessary inputs into, save that file as a pdf, insert it into my layout document, so that it can be "referenced" to in my "documents setup". so that when or if the schedules need to be updated, they will have to be opened in the iWork program, modified, saved as a new pdf, with the same name(I usually have an autosave copy of the original) so that the reference link stays alive and active... and that allows me to make changes and have an adaptive document... I am on my third set of working drawings, and it is getting to working better. aloha red

Was starting to feel a bit better though, hence my post, although, saying that, think I need to go back to bed. Is this how you'd do it? You have the right idea. Just pull the elevations back from the floor plan a bit, to give yourself some working room. And if you have grouped each view, and placed them on their own layer, you can turn them on or off as you wish. Looks like a great challenge you have there Lee. What a unique looking building. Should be fun.

If it is really and "definitely" on face (and of course, the edges are all connected to a closed loop, too), you can try to select everything (the face and all the supposed to be edges of the face), right click on the selection > Intersect > ...selected. This should also form the face. SU sometimes does not form a face this way either. Then try to connect endpoints of opposite edges until you can fill all the shape or at least find where the glitch can be. Later (if they are really coplanar), you can erase these connecting lines. If you lose the face again this way, they are definitely not coplanar somewhere.

Hi Lee, There is a "Get nearby models" in the latest version however that will not nake any difference between recently uploaded models and the ones that have been there for ages: http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=116820

LO is probably the most flexible... but there's also my **2D Tools** 2D Text tool that makes a 'flat' bit of 3D-text which sticks to a surface [actually a tiny bit above to avoid z-fighting], and can be in 'text'*, in any installed font, any fixed height, any standard color, style[ B/I ] etc etc... see its guide for more details. There are no leaders and the text works best viewed 'flat' in plan or elevation - but it doesn't "float around" and potentially change size with view distance like normal SUp text !!! *Note - to make line-breaks you have to include \n in the text in the dialog [until it migrates to a webdialog]. Later on you can edit any aspect of a piece of this text [componnet] my selecting it and right-click context-menu and Edit 2D Text - and entering new details in the dialog that opens... This 'text' is a component so copying it means that editing one instance changes all other copies - useful if you say the same text lots of times - confusing it you don't think it through [perhaps try make-unique if you mess up]...

@leedeetee said: I am wondering if there is a way to be able to see the size of the various components and items within the model? Sort of. Assuming you have a train, delete everything but the locomotive. File/Save As ... locomotive.skp. Load again. Delete everything but the caboose. File/Save As ... caboose.skp. And so on. File/New. File/Import locomotive.skp. File/Import ... through caboose.skp. After each import, click the origin. Each piece will be a separate component in the completed model. Clicking the origin will reassemble perfectly. And each piece will be much friendlier to work with than the 25MB full model. Trick: open locomotive.skp. Create a layer named locomotive. Select all. Use Entity Info to move everything into the locomotive layer. Save. When you import, your completed model has a layer named "locomotive" with a single component, also named "locomotive".
