Morning, just a quick question ..

I purchased JPP only yesterday, but realised I should have bought the bundle - great value!

Is there any way of paying the difference so I can get the bundle rather than paying $12 + $40.

I understand this is my fault but just thought it was worth the question.

      Many thanks. πŸ™‚

Wait a minute. I need a ruling from the judges on this one. . .you have a 4 year old and think you have more free time? What was I doing wrong? πŸ’š

Ha! I meant my evenings aren't now taken up with going up and down the stairs to change nappies! And I did say a 'little' bit more time! 🀣

Thanks for all the comments guys. Slowly re-introducing myself back into world of SU!

    • What have I missed?!

      Hi all,

You may remember me (or not!) but basically I really enjoyed being a member of this site and used to use SketchUp for fun and work and think my last visit was about 5 years ago. A new job, having a son and general life stuff got in the way of the fun stuff!

My son is now 4 so I find myself having a [little] bit more time on my hands so one of the things I would like to do is start modelling and rendering again.

However, I've just tried to download the free version and it's all .... online! WTF?!

I used to have Pro several years ago when it was about Β£300 but I could everything I wanted to do with the free version and Twilight Render Pro which I also had.

I've had a browse of the forums but can't really see what my options are? Will the online app do what I want it to do, namely; modelling buildings and scenes and being able to use Twilight?

Many thanks in advance - apologies if these are ridiculous questions.

      Hi Chris,

Just wondering if there are any plans to make this 2016 friendly? Love the plug in, would be a great help.

      Cheers.

      Hi,

Many thanks for this - such an easy solution.

I'm still having trouble with the Extended Views. Just not showing up anywhere. Is this a compatibility issue do you think?

      Thanks again.

    • Plugins 2016

      Hi all,

I was merrily using SUMake 2015 until I inadvertently updated it to 2016. I re-installed all the plug ins to 2016 but for some reason, many aren't showing up. Is it something I am doing or are they not compatible with 2016 yet? Chris Fullmer's extended view is a prime example, as is 1001bit pro.

I was happy on 2015 - can this be ran alongside '16? Can't find anywhere to download if so.

      Many thanks.

    • RE: Modelling from a Topo footprint

Thanks for the reply - I have tried to model everything and not worry about the parts of the model that will be below the ground, but my contact was adamant. Think I need to set up a meeting with him as it would save a lot of messing about!

    • RE: Modelling from a Topo footprint

Thanks for the response, and sorry, I don't think I've made it very clear ...

My picture was just of one of the building footprints that I have to model. The footprints have been taken from topographical survey, my models will then sit on top of the terrain, which has been modeled from the topo survey also. They can't 'punch through' the terrain so they have to be cut where the terrain intersects the building.

So far I've been draping the footprint shape onto a flat face, tidying up, then extruding and modelling upwards from the lowest point, then 'cutting/trimming' the ground line where needed. This sounds similar to your workflow?

It works, but was just wondering if I was missing something ... ?

    • Modelling from a Topo footprint

      Hi all,

      Long time no type!

I've got a small commission to model some buildings at my local University. My contact is great and has sent me a lot of information, cad plans, footprints etc ...

I need to model the buildings from the footprint which has been derived from the topographical survey. I have room to make small adjustments, i.e. straightening up brick walls etc, but the levels mys remain the same.

I just wondering if any of you guys have dealt with this type of thing before and what your workflow was? Especially with regard to the initial extrusions from the footprint?

      Cheers. πŸ‘Š

P.s. Screenshot of what I am talking about ...

    • 8 Pro v 2015 Make

      Hi all,

I've had to take a bit of a back seat with my SketchUp for the past year/18 months - why didn't any tell me how much time/money/energy having a baby has?!

Anyway, I'm now at the stage where I have the odd hour to myself of an evening so I have more time to spend on SU.

My current set up is SU8Pro, which is now obviously out of date. I plan to buy SU1025 Pro when I get my bonus from work in October but in the mean time, is it worth sticking with SU8 for a few months or getting SU15 Make to tide me over?

Your expert thoughts are greatly appreciated. πŸ˜„
