The last couple of days, the Chrome extension, SketchUation Plugin Store has operated as shown in the image. Just a small blank with no plugins listed.

I did a re-install this morning and it still is not working.

Anyone else having a problem or have I missed something.

OK, downloaded the new version, V2.0.0. Was testing the plugin. Now after the installation, if I use the plugin, Sketchup has bug splat after closing. And installing this plugin was the only operation in Sketchup I have done this morning. If I open Sketchup and do not use this plugin, Sketchup closes correctly.

As for an error code, none displayed. Just the Bug Splat form as shown.

Note the prior version did not cause a bug splat.

      Houston we have a problem.

      Dave

Thanks. I do that also, but this was the first time I have multiple images that I wanted to overlay. Normally I have one image that I use and you method works. However, I wanted to turn on the X-Ray view on so they could see all the images stacked.

It seems with the slowing down with work in the Gulf of Mexico, they are chasing more inland work. So this is why I am getting more and more scanned files, from projects that were constructed in the late 30's to the early 60's.

      Anyway thanks.

    • Imported images, scaling and moving

OK, I am working on a tunnel under a shipping channel that was built in 1930. So all the construction drawings are scanned images. No chance in converting to ACAD files.

I use a program to select sections of the drawing that I am interested in and import the images into to Sketchup as a PNG image.

I get my images from the set of PDF drawings that were sent to me, old Internet photos of the site, from navigation charts, and PDF reports from years past.

My problem is that I need to overlay each image at the correct scaling and positioning, such that I can make different views showing the various information on top of the model I am creating. So this requires that each image be scaled and moved to accurately overlay on the images below and have the correct alignment with the model.

Not all the scanned drawing are scaled correctly in the X and Y directions, why not, not sure, bad scanning or a bad drawing, wrinkled maybe. So this requires that each section cuts needs to be scaled correctly in the X and Y directions, which means there needs to be some separate X and Y scaling, and some re-alignment of the total image in the X and Y directions, until the two, three or four or more images, are at the correct scaling and positioning.

I have tried Jim’s JF Moveit 2.1, and TIG’s Texture tool. Neither tool gives me the desired results. The native Sketchup scaling and Move Tools do not work well with images.

So, am I missing a plugin that will scale images separately, in the X and Y directions, and move the image in the X and Y directions according to my inputs?

As an example of my input. Scale in the Y direction by 1.5, Scale in the X direction 1.2. Move in the Y direction 12”, move in the X direction 3’.

If there is no plugin that I am missing, guess, I will do the best I can, going to be a long night.

I have tried to install the three plugins from 3skeng. However, all I get is an endless loop asking for an activation code.

Would like to see how these plugins perform.

Has anyone else manage to get these plugins installed?

Don't mean to hijack this thread. However, for Windows, I use PicPick for capturing screen shots or parts of the screen for procedures.

Since I write the procedures in Word, I just set my cursor in the word document where I wish to place the image, and just tell PicPick to send to Word, and presto, the image is there.

OK, back to the original subject, screen grab for Mac.

I've had a similar problem Trimble.

I never had any problems exporting CAD files from 2013. However in 2014, exporting this one file, it would turn on hidden lines, which meant the CAD drawing was screwed. I take the same file and it would export correctly from 2013.

Sent in question, answer, "It must be you graphic driver". Now this is the same graphic driver for both programs. And the problem only occurred on this one file. Good thing I had 2013 to finish.

Just thought they would want a head ups. Guess not.

So, I just keeping 2013 for these very rare happening.

      Mike and andyc

      Thanks for not hammering me.

To put it bluntly, I have zero respect for people/nations that put children in harms way. Hiding behind women and children is an act that gets zero respect from me. No historical or present day wrong justifies this type of behavior.

Mike, I look at the natural gas map. It looks to me as there is plenty to go around. I just happen to work in the oil/gas recovery business. It would be nice if there was some possible cooperation there and both societies make gains.

However, drilling for gas or oil in a potential war zone would be catastrophic; personnel and environmental wise.

Now, I will back out, don't want to highjack your thread. Just wanted to point out, there are children and old people on both sides, that have a right to safe life.

Ken, gone. Mike, sorry about the thread high jack

I have two programs that will convert PDF to CAD. Both do the job, however, pdf2cad will allow you to convert to CAD and PDF 2 DXF will only convert to DXF.

      Not cheap.

      pdf2cad v8.5

      PDF 2 DXF 2, http://www.cadkas.de/downengpdf11.php

      And also online, http://dwg.autodwg.com/

    • RE: Converting PDF to JPG

Well I don't get floor plans, but I do get a lot of PDFs. Sometimes for my use, I can convert the PDF to DWG or DFX, which works out very well. Note, the import to Sketchup may not be to scale in DFX, so I need to make sure I have a measurement that I can use to scale the imported DFX.

As for PDF that will not convert, I use PicPick, a very good screen capture program. If I don't want the whole drawing, just parts, I expand the view until I have the part I wish to use to model and use PicPick to copy the screen. I then input into Sketchup. Now, here comes the tricky part. Images usually come in not to scale vertically and horizontally at the same time. So, I make the image a group. open the group and use the rotated rectangle to make a rectangle over areas that I know the measurement. Then I use one side (horizontally) of the rectangle to scale the image and then scale the other side (vertically). Oops! that not the native scale tool, that is Fredo's scale tools.

Now, why don't I use a line, because, I have found I can place a box over lines to get a better fit. Complicated, but hey, sometimes that all I have to use.

      Hopes this helps.

      and folder
      C:/Users/Ken/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2014/SketchUp/Plugins/s4u_aligntool
      Re-installed from store.
Don't rename file and folder plugin.

Oops! my bad, that file was from your Version 1.0.5. I believe you did not have a toolbar with that version, so I added a toolbar. Note, it didn't crash until this version. So why would I rename a file when adding a toolbar. Because I name the icon with the number, and add the number to the tool text. This way I have a reference on what the icon's plugin is, and what the is the name of the icon. On some plugins, it is almost impossible to associate the toolbar icon with the actual RB file. So I guess it caught up to me.

So thank you. Will now be more careful.

    • RE: ACAD Export 2014 and 2013

OK, bringing this subject up again.

OK, TomTom you mentioned in another post that you didn't understand my problem about exporting to CAD in SU 2014. So here is some more info.

It appears that my model of a buoy-wire-chain will not export in SU 2014 without showing hidden lines as shown in the attached PDF. However, if I hid the buoy, SU 2014 will export correctly, not showing the hidden lines.

Note, that SU 2013 will export the model with the buoy in the model correctly.

So there is something in the buoy model that is preventing SU 2014 from correctly exporting to CAD.

Attached also is the model in SU 2014. I sent this problem to Trimble, haven't gotten a response from them as of today. I know they are busy. However, you did express an interest in the problem.

Now, making model of underwater equipment and exporting them to other CAD drawing is what I do, and this put the brakes on my work the last couple of days.

TomTom thanks in advance for looking at this problem.

That's because it's also the currently selected material. The currently selected material won't be purge because SketchUp assume you're about to use it. Select the default material instead and then purge and you should be all set.

Thanks TT for your input, that make sense.

Saw you at BaseCamp, however you were busy. Had a green bowler, but was not brave enough to wear it at basecamp.

Now got any reason why I can't export to a CAD from SU 2014 and not have the hidden lines showing, like it does in SU 2013?

Now aren't you sorry you responded.
