That's why I don't import cad files of a building and rather trace over a jpg.

    • RE: Problem with glued components

I use glued components all the time and have no issues. The advice I'd give you up ahead is use glue to any for every component. It's more flexible and I'm changing the axis of my groups and components all the time so my components work in any scenario.

The second problem and most common (that's probably what you have) is that you must have the following mandatory things happening with your component:

      • There must be a planar polygon inside the component that will be used to cut the wall (without face and edges can be invisible);
      • That face must be parallel to the X and Y axis of the component and be set on Z=0 of the component.

Every component like that will work fine.

I didn't think about ikea. But it made me think. The font distracted me from those thoughts. It's an excellent work!

    • RE: Lumion 8.3 with LiveSync

That feudalism was based on these things: war, power, money and leisure.

Romans who had power, dedicated to leisure and paid other people to do war for them. Those mercenaries got successful and got promoted into power.

And a successful predemocratic culture gave birth to a powerful war culture.

Culture is always there but in certain contexts, certain forms of culture are more valid than others.

The culture of leisure is everywhere in our society and employs a lot of freelancers.

The culture of war is hidden away from society's eyes but it's still there and very present. I wonder how long will we be able to keep it away.

It's expensive but good... Is it worth it? I think so! Did I buy it? I think not!

If the right moment arises I will.

I love the viewport snapping but I agree that it should not have higher priority over model geometry.

Have you turned off hardware acceleration somehow, by mistake?

Is sketchup the only software with issues?

    • RE: SketchUP plugins for creating walls and to punch windows

Double Cut, is a simple plugin developed by Dale Martens (Sketchup Plugin Guru behind profile builder and artisan).

It uses any standard Sketchup hole cut component to create a hole in a double faced wall. Very effective.

However, as my openings for doors and windows are always completely different from the door or window components themselves, I always use this method here (well not exactly, but you could start with it...):

In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to create a component (more exactly a complex component) that can cut the holes on both the outer and inner faces of a thick wall in SketchUp.

If you get past the odd selection methods, working without SU very clever inference system, the multiple workspaces and a painful UI spread all over the place, you'll be able to acjive greatness. It has everything SU lacks, SU has everything Blender lacks. Opposites

    • RE: Difficulty with image wrapping

Hi, I didn't download ypur file but it looks like you are using a projected texture. That's what happens to an exploded image, it becomes a tecture projected into a face.

Just right click the face with the image and go to texture - position - untick projected. After this you can sample it and it should wrap

    • RE: Insanity

      Convert your models to proxies.

I actually like the room I'd just criticize two things:

      • Window frames are too wide, breaking the relationship with the exterior and making the room too dark.
      • The camera in the corner of the room tries to pickup on everything instead of conveying the feeling of being inside the room actually living it.
