What is this strange thing you refer to, Layer, never head of it.
My head always heads layers but I head it's tags now, you head right!
Thanks Box!
So Group by Tag anyone?

Hi there,
I haven't posted regularly here for a long time, but I've started following the forum again and I will try posting more again.
I think I have used a plugin in the past that would group objects by layer but I might be imagining things. Has anyone got any idea if such a plugin exists?
Thanks in advance!

Send the device HW ID you want released to support@sketchucation.com and we'll take a look
Hi Rich,
How can I find it? Is it in my Sketchucation account?
Thanks Dave!
I tried that but got the impression that the Release License Button only releases current version. As I wiped the disk where both windows and Sketchup with the previous version was installed, I can't activate that license anymore in order to Release it.
I will try it again though.
EDIT: I did it again and I can confirm that I can release license on current installation but it doesn't release the previous installation on the previous disk of this computer. I'd have to go back in time, use the previous disk to startup windows and sketchup, and release the license from there. Unfortunately as the disk is already wiped, I can't boot windows from it anymore.
Hi Fredo,
I've just installed a new SSD in my computer and wiped out the previous one where windows was installed.
Between my computer and my laptop, I had used two of the 3 licenses I have for several of your plugins. Now, on the same computer, but with a different SSD, I've used the third. I've tried releasing a license but it only releases current one, not the one from the disk I had wiped out.
How can a user set that old license free?
This isn't a problem for me, at the moment, of course, but it still feels like a different process should be considered, because releasing the license prior to cloning the drive never crossed my mind.
Still there are so many things to improve.. i.e; too many clicks to edit bump or parallax textures and values.
Besides that, consider that you have realtime rendering but also RTX powered ray tracing.
(Hi guys, long time no post here)
I was trying to offset all faces of a surface exactly 20cm and both the regular JPP and Normal JPP failed while thickening seemed to work.
Cheers,
I just found out about JPP Thickening. I use JPP for ages and never noticed it there and now it just solved an issue I had. Great! Just great!
Thanks!
Hi,
I can do that, but when dealing with 50+ scenes and 50+ Layers it´s a bit of a pain.
So I keep Layer's panel always active just so it automatically saves layer changes to current scene.
Hi everyone,
I've been using JPP Layer's panel for ages. Nowadays, with SU2021, we can already organize Layers by folder so JPP plugin is somewhat overkill.
Even so, I still use it only because of a couple of features that I can't live without and one of them is that it has an option to save all visibility changes to layers into current scene.
I don't know of any other plugin that can do that and I know it was a side effect of one of JBB layers panel first releases.
It's really a niche use case, I bet, but I would ask any of your good souls if it would be very hard to make this seemingly simple plugin happen.
Thanks in advance,
João
Pixero, you were good at rendering. Your images were getting better and better.
However, your cartoons are way better than your renders. They are really great!
I'd say that loosing your job might turn out to be an excellent opportunity. Congratulations on your move!
I liked the first set better because they were cute, but there was a mild darkness to them too. I want to read both stories if I have the chance!
There are means of making a solid with hollow areas inside, and you could do that room like that. However, those hollows represent voids, not rooms and so the software will fail to calculate them as rooms.
If the software could see all hollows as rooms, then producing the solid would be basic as it would be a matter of having walls with thickness.
Your sun room will be either connected or disconnected from the rest of the house, right?
Then it seems you need two different calculations. One for the house without sun room and the other with the house opened to the sun room.
So what you need is two different solids: one has the sun room, the other solid excludes that room.
Thanks Didier!!!!!
That is an incredibly useful plugin!
Do you know if displacement textures can be changed? It seems displacement is there only for existing materials.

Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure you mean Fredo6's Bezier tool, JQL.
I'm pretty sure I did.
What happened was that while I was trying to remember if it was Fredo's or TIG's, I remembered that I used it always from context menu directly without other UI, and that Fredo Plugins usually require the use of his floating UI for options which I didn't remember Bezier had. So I concluded it should probably be TIG's.
Sorry Fredo and TIG, thank you for the clarification Box.
You don't need the perpendicular face tool anymore. You can draw a "pie arc" holding your left mouse click on the edge and dragging the mouse on the edge. This will define pie axis and the pie will be drawn perpendicular to axis. You can then close the pie to get you a circle and you can define the amount of sections the pie/circle/arc has.
To define the curve to use the follow me with, you can define some specific points in the grid and then use Tig's Bezier plugin, which will allow you to interactively edit the curve, and after that, you might further refine by smoothing it with Fredo's Curvizard.

Yea, all my models use ridiculous textures. I use shaded at times, but the file sizes are pretty large.
Why do you need such large textures?
I need them for rendering but I use Thea render. It allows us to have a high resolution texture in the material while it is able to generate a low resolution texture for use in the Sketchup material.
I also need them for photogrammetry and terrain data, but I also use Thea to reduce their size.
Thea will use textures stored in disk ,that do not weight on SketchUp model.

Do you have plans to add a flatten (skp) generation from selected parts?
That's my plan to produce FaceMe component, but not sure this is useful as I never saw a user request for that.
I interpreted this as 2d vector images from a SketchUp model. I was thinking Fredo portrait would evolve to that.
Images cannot be exported to CAD (well they can, but they won't be valid to acquire dimensions from).
However I don't really know if Sketchup would be faster to export the images, than Layout would be at regenerating them, so the trade off might not be worth the trouble.
