The calculation of the report may take time, in seconds.
So, an automatic recalculation on any change of a selection could be counterproductive, as you may want to select several objects in a row.
That's why currently ReportArea just highlight the Refresh button in Red when a change of selection takes place.
Still, I think this could be an option. Not a default one, but an available setting. I personally use this tool for low number of faces and with fast computer. Auto-recalculation would not be counterproductive for me. But it's just a suggestion
Hi!
Is it possible with Report On Areas to auto-refresh calculation when selection is changed?
Hello,
I have a problem with importing Blend files. There is a model in Blender containing one object with all faces touching each other, so the object is "water-tight", "3D-printable" and there are no "border edges" (every edge is connected to two faces).
When I import it to SketchUp, some faces stay connected but some disconnect, leaving doubled vertices living nearby but not touching each other. This basically makes a broken mesh.
Can something be done with this issue - either manually, or within the plugin?
I tried exporting from Blender to OBJ, then to SketchUp. It fixes the issue if I use ThomThom's QFT OBJ importer but introduces another issue - missing some faces.
The BLEND model is in the ZIP archive because SketchUcation won't let me post BLEND files.
not all faces stick together.skp
If this could be done in the future as an option/ toggle/ alternative, cuz really not everybody may want this, it would be super, super cool!
Hello,
I got two questions.
First one is:
Is there any way/shortcut to force scaling box align to group's/ world axes?
Second one is a request:
When we use shear tool for specific edges/faces, not for entire groups, it kind of "pulls" any edges/faces attached to transformed part of mesh. This is very nice behaviour because we can not only shear groups/ components but also fragments of meshes and they will keep continuity - they will stay "glued together" as they were originally. On the other hand, taper tool doesn't behave that nicely. Do you think you could change the plugin a little (if you have time) so that taper behaviour would be similar to shear tool?
Here's a screenshot:
Hello,
Would it be possible to support importing loose edges from Blender? When a mesh contains faces, it imports properly but if there are only edges, they don't get imported.
It would also be cool if separate Blender objects would be imported to separate SketchUp groups. But I'm aware this can be a lot of work to code.

Go back to page 20 of this thread. Thereβs a short video posted that goes over the cool new stuff. A lot has been added
Just a thought for the admins... maybe this thread could be split ? One for all the existing and new Vertex1 questions and a new thread for Vertex2 starting with Thomasβs Vertex2 announcement ?
tuna1957, I am asking exactly about the latest version 2.0.3, not 2.0.0. The changelog is not very accurate.
Sorry then, I didn't know that
Hello,
I found no better column for this thread so forgive me if it should be placed somewhere else.
I got a problem that my message got stuck in Outbox. I guess it hasn't been sent. Sent messages are placed in "Sent messages" tab, right?
Thing is, I want to change my nickname to "Michal.p" and I posted a PM to Gaieus asking him for doing it. Perhaps someone else could do it for me?
Also, I would kindly have a suggestion for improving the forum. Currently, we can only post image attachments up to 1600x1600 px. Who uses such resolution these days? What about increasing max. res. to FullHD, as almost everybody uses at least this screen resolution, and we wouldn't have to make extra steps downscaling or cropping our screenshots? This wouldn't make a huge difference to servers, I guess.
Thank you
If you only bought Vertex Tools 1 licence, it doesn't work with Vertex Tools 2. 2nd version is way more elaborate tool and I guess that's why the Author charges more for VT2.
I actually DID delete contents, not just hide layers. Though, it stayed hidden somewhere in the file! I'll do some googling about cleaning up CAD files.
Well, the result are, little to say, interesting. At first glimpse it actually imported more text than the source file contained. I know, I know, this is not possible. Thing is, I saved DWG, then removed most of the text, then saved DXF. Looks like AutoCAD didn't really remove stuff from the file, just obscured it from view. I also have problems with scale but this can be my fault.
I need more time to test the new version carefully. Lotsa errands to run these days but I will let you know.
Thank you very much for the update!
Well, I didn't do any kind of sorcery over that text It is simply AutoCAD text and dimensions.
I would be very thankful if you could resolve it but don't bother if you don't have time.
If I only import text, without any other stuff, is it still relevant that DXF native and your import options must match?
I now removed most of the text before saving to DXF, to do a little, easy test-drive.
Console closed.
I used the same units - first saved DWG in AutoCAD in millimetres, then saved DXF, then imported to SketchUp as millimetres.
Still no success.
Where are the import options settings? Do you mean regular DXF import?
Should it work with SU 2020?
Because it doesn't work for me. I saved from AutoCAD as old version of DXF as possible (2000/LT2000 DXF) and imported the file into SketchUp. All relevant layer were ON.
SketchUp only imported an empty layer on which I had my dimensions but did not import a layer on which I had text. In statistics it shows no entities.
CTRL+A results in empty selection. Also there is nothing to unhide.
Could you please take a look at the DXF, maybe try to import it and help me track the issue?
I have no other version of SketchUp to try.
Thanks a ton! I need your plugin very much
Jorgensen, you are doing everything right.
The plugin has a bug that rotation values are in radians instead of degrees. 1 radian is about 57.3 degrees.
I posted this issue on Chaos' plugin thread but I got no answer
