i wuoldn't say hooked. I mean I was jazzed when Pete showed this in Boulder. . . and I knew I was going to drink the kool-aid as it were, but seeing what you guys do with this and comparing it to where I am at. . .I gotta ways to go. So yes. .. I am committed. I mean. . .I put out the $$ so I gotta learn it. . but it's going to be a while before I am confident in doing cool cars, or cannons or that kinda stuff. Please stand by!

Some of the older scripts like Lattice-izer predate the forum, but are available at Didier's crai Depot. If a need comes up here I sometimes publish a script again here - like Lattice-izer - however, many of us have many loads of scripts that are either superseded or specialized and don't often 'emerge' from the gloom...

If I install the PLE version of Infinite or Xstream and I wish to carry on using it commercially and without watermarks, can you register the PLE version and carry on working, or do you have to delete it and re-install a dedicated full version?

i recently brought some parts for my classic beetle from an american company and they shipped them over. i could have got them over here from a company that's an english franchise of the american company, but from the english company it would have cost me just over £3000. the american company, including shipping and also some little extras, it cost me £1890. the guy asked me why i was buying from them, rather than their english counterpart, so i outright told him why (after the payment had gone through of course!) he was more than shocked! the crazy thing is that this wasn't even when the exchange rates were in my favour, had i done it then i could have saved even more. i just don't get it. pav

What about realising Sketchup's inference engine in javascript and using SVG (or maybe better O3D) for the graphics. This is what the Google Building Maker uses. It would work on nearly ANY operating system.... At the current time, I would not like to edit big projects in a javascript app because of performance. But the increasing use of cloud computing by google makes me hopeful. It would be possible in far future and Building Maker is a step in this direction. I think the intuitive way of modeling in Sketchup is idealfor portable touch devices. But a real "iPhone" or "Android" version of Sketchup would be similar to the Sketchup for Linux requests and would need in some way a completely new development.

@pibuz said: Hi Dylan! The floor tiles you show in the first render are amazing: how did you do that? I simply drew around them and push pulled! It took me about 20 mins at a guess. What I did was applied floor texture in SU. I right clicked and chose texture/position. I then drew a square on my texture, the size of the box shown when you edit the texture (where the 4 pins are) I knew from here I could hopefully seamlessly tile it. Next I used the freehand pencil tool and in plan view quickly drew around each individual cobble in the square. Once all were traced, I push pulled 10mm. Some of them I used round edges on at 2mm, but I only randomly did this on maybe about a third. Finally I hid the lines at the edge of the stone cobbles, then created a component. With this component I scaled it to the size I wanted, then simply copied it along to fill the room. The image above was 6 components. A couple of images may show it better: It probably sounds more complicated than it actually was. It was simply a quick brainwave and it worked first attempt. Laticizer would help a little, but it's not ideal because it creates a frame, including the outer lines of the wall I pick. A better solution I have just found is in 1001 bit tools and is the 'Create horizontal groove lines on selected surface' tool. I just need to rotate the face 90 degrees to add vertical grooves. It would be good to add horizontal and vertical grooves together to stop this happening, as shown in attached image, but I'm not complaining! [image: t1NE_0.1.jpg]

Dylan, Possibly the easiest way would be to make a duplicate layer of the background photo, then sandwich the layer containing the canopy between the two identical layers, positioning the canopy correctly. I'd then use the magic wand (or colour range...as Jackson suggests) on the clouds in the top photo layer...set to a reasonable tolerance like 100....select then delete. That ought to leave just the tree showing in the sky area, with the canopy showing through the gaps. You could probably then just sample some of the vignetted leaves and copy them over the bits of canopy that fall in front of the buildings, but behind the tree.

The discussion about an "unbiased" method started here (in the Hardware recommendation topic) and later on they shared a model where they tested framerates if that's what you are after.
