    • Roof Plugin Question

I haven't used SU for 5 years so am a little out of touch!

I am looking for a roof plugin to work with SU Pro 16. I used to use TIG's roof maker (forget the correct name). Is this still one of the best to use and compatible with 2016?

I want a tool that will create roofs such as gable end and hipped etc.

    • Architectural 3d Visualisation Required

      Hi All,

I'm looking for someone who may want to take on a small visualisation job, as I'm too busy these days to fit them in and instead of turning them away anymore I will offer it to someone here.
You will provide me with the images and I will pass them onto my client.

      The Job:
My client is building 7 houses on a small cul-de-sac consisting of one detached house and 6 semi-detached. In total there are 3 house types.
They want one image looking down the cul-de-sac so looking towards several houses and one image looking directly at two connected houses.
You will obviously only need to model the elevations in the required image.
They want either photo realistic, or any other type of render that shows materials, but is not box standard SU output.
You will need to show some vegetation, road, kerb, pavement (sidewalk), sky, a car or two and a person.

I have full detailed house plans, elevations and siteplan which can be provided in pdf or dwg.

You can email me directly at dylan@dylanmorton.com

    • Old Coffee Table Tutorial?

For some of the old timers out there!
Does anyone have a link to an old tutorial which I think originated from the @Last forums for a coffee table tutorial?
I always found it a great tut to teach beginners but seemed to have lost it.
It was a simple timber table with a glass top inset.
It was a really good tut in my eyes because it covered all the basic tools needed to model.

I think these are great renders, nice lighting and a cool looking room. I love the gloss white wall units.

I did not know about the Falkirk wheel. It is a fantastic piece of engineering and must be a great experience in a boat.

    • RE: Thea Render - Released!

Great news, but I could kick myself!!!!
I downloaded the beta a few weeks ago but have been so busy with work I did not get chance to try it out. After thinking about it earlier today I thought, just buy it while it is at the lower price. On going to the site earlier I realised it had gone up in price by around €100. I forgot it was 1st March it went up.
I need to save up some more money, or stick with Twilight πŸ˜„

      Pete that looks amazing.

Are the materials you used available on the Thea forums? The car paint and the tyres are excellent.

      Nice work guys.

Oli I'm guessing that is you playing with Thea?

Pete, I love the weathered ones. Is that done in Thea? Is it using displacement and is the background a hdr?

Thats fantastic Eric. I like the finished image also.

It seems one of the most difficult parts of creating these organic shapes is knowing what proxy to model in the first place to achieve the shape you have in your head!

    • RE: Mac vs. Windows

Well I love my Macs, they are more enjoyable to use for me, they look better, are made better and work better.
But you can argue about this all day long, you just have to try.

If you purchase the licence, does it allow you to install it on more than one machine?
I really would want to have it on my iMac and Macbook.

Are there a decent amount of materials available for it like with Kerkythea, or does it use the same ones?

    • Thea Render

I was wondering what users of Thea render thought about it.
I am wondering wether or not to purchase it, but am slightly worried my lack of rendering skills will mean it is way too complicated for me. Is it mainly designed for the already proficient renderers, such as people who use and are familiar with such programs as Maxwell, Vray and Kerkythea? I use Twilight and I like it a lot, but have considered trying Thea to see where it can take me.
I'm not the sort of person that wants to spend forever tweaking every setting to achieve a good render. I want to work hard, but enjoy myself at the same time!
Is it suitable for a person with more medium level rendering skills and is it an enjoyable program to use?
The fact I can use it as a Mac user really appeals to me.
      Any thoughts on Thea?

I like it John. You get a good level of detail in your models which is so important in these type of images.
      Nice work.
