RE: Hardware recommendations
If you are only using SU then I strongly recommend against Quadro FX cards. The performance gain from optimzed openGL is marginal at best which doesn't justify the price difference. I have tested both Quadro FX 3700 and Geforce 9800 GT on my system (They are roughly equivalent hardware wise) and there is no difference in SU performance, however, Quadro is 6x the price. Don't fall for it. Quadro does play nicely with Rhino though thats why I stuck with it.

TIG, very nice plugin... can you improve it to add the option for another rail "edge", thus effectively transforming it into a SWEEP 2 RAILS plugin??
It's on the list...Drool...

Wow. I got 21 FPS in a previous post without turning shadows on, I figured I'd give it a shot with shadows to see what happens. SU shadows are nasty, apparently:
That's a pretty serious hit.
Thats high! What is your setup?

RE: Bigfoot (updated)
Great image. Tiny winy bit of motion blur on the wheels would be cool though.

Well, Iād count Justinian and Theodora as more Byzantine Greek than Roman, Chango, although I certainly recognise Theodoraās emancipated views as well as her humble origins. I take your point, but in the Western Empire of the 1st century ADā¦contemporary with the Celtsā¦the plain fact is that most womenā¦however patricianā¦had very few rights at all.
And Benazir Bhutto may have headed the state, but whatās the position of the average female in Pakistan?Well I am not sure if I mentioned whether Justinian is Byzantine in my post which he certainly is? Where did that come from? On another note is Byzantine Empire not also calld the Eastern Roman Empire? I don't think anybody is going to dispute the position of 'average female in Pakistan' or what ever construct you deem that to be. One has to remember Pakistan is a 3rd world country. When have you been to a third world country where womens rights are greatly upheald? Economics and peoples rights are intimately interwined it would appear. Which makes it even more shameful, not less that the US has not had a female president.

I was thinking something similar. Most people usually take responsibility for their own actions. As to where we would be without the strictures of Christianityā¦the answer is probably not very far from where we are now. Obviously, our entire cultural and Architectural heritage is predicated upon Christianity, but basic morality is fairly universal.
The British Celts that were invaded by the Romans were very far from being Christian, but they had a society in which women could attain the highest positions. It took Christianity another 2000 years to catch up with thatā¦and Islam still has a long way to go in that respect. They also took responsibility for the young and the old and the handicappedā¦at a time when the Romans were casually disposing of unwanted infants on the local rubbish dump.It still looks a really cheesy movie, though.
Actually under Emperor Justinian I particularly due to the efforts of Theodora, his empress, women achieved unprecedented social political and legislative stature. It didn't last though. The Islam thing is also false. Historically women in Islamic worlds achieved higher legal status than most western christian countries at the time, most important of which is the legal ownership of property (pre-marriage ofcourse) the right to divorce which was not common in the West until 19/20th century. Thing in the Islamic worlds are being portrayed as going into regression by the western media however that is also unture. For every countires like Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan we also have more than seven head of states including Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan, Mame Madior Boye of Senegal, Tansu Ćiller of Turkey, Queen Rania of Jordan, Kaqusha Jashari of Kosovo, Megawati Sukarnoputri of Indonesia and Bangladesh was the first country in the world to have a female head-of-state follow one another four times between Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina ā each winning two elections each. Something the US has yet to achieve.

RE: 2012
Like all institutions it either evolves or dies. I know that is a difficult concept for you to grasp Cornel. Marriage used to mean legal institution of bondage of women's livelihood to a man in many cultures however that is no longer the case. Women's role in society changed and so have marriage. Despite the fact that many people of 'faith' would like to see that situation 'rectified'. If gay people want to get married then it will change the institution of marriage to a new definition and NOT the other way round.

14.0 frames/sec
Which is annoying since i bought a Ā£600 Quadro FX3700. Probably better off with a game card.

RE: Vray Material Editor
@thomthom said:
Get the updated manual.
You only had to do that in the old version. Since SR1.0 (1.00.70) V-Ray materials are synchronized with Sketchup. When you open the V-Ray material Editor you'll find all your Sketchup materials. From there you can add reflection, refractions bump etc etc to the materials you've created in SU.Where do you find SR1.5 manual? I found SR1.0 Manual from Scribed but not 1.5.

I've got this working properly now, and it will be fixed in the next release for the tools.

I'll try to get that fixed too, but maybe not for the next release.

Would be great if you can add a CTLR modifier to make the new mesh smooth.
ā¦I probably won't add this, but if I do decided to, it won't be anytime soon.
Also as a side note, I'm planning on adding a toolbar for them, and am trying to figure out how to add a subfolder and a loader script. I've got the toolbar working, but not with a subfolder or loader, and having the files just sitting in the plugins folder is a bit annoying.
Fantastic! I can't wait for the new version. Great work!

Hi John, I think you just need to copy those 2 .rb files into your plugins folder. They don't need to be in the subfolder - unless I'm missing something. I'll edit that out if its wrong.
Chris, you're right, they both go into the plugins folder.
@chris fullmer said:
@BTM - The reason that the class variables are not working correctly (meaning they are not keeping their value during the entire SU session) is because you are declaring the variable in your activate method. So everytime the activate the tool gets activated, it resets the
@@max_weld_distance
variable back to0.0.to_l
.I know that the variable needs to be outside of a method, but with things like
@@max_weld_distance=1.to_l if not @@max_weld_distance
it would call it an uninitialized variable, and give an error message.@chris fullmer said:
So what you want to do is declare that variable inside the class, outside of the methods. Like this:
class MergePoints @@max_weld_distance=0.0.to_l
It does work! I've been trying if functions, (so that if @@max_wld_distance doesn't have a value, it gets set to 0.0.to_l), but I kept getting error messages, and I guess that an if function isn't necessary.
Hey wow that would be great!
