Hi TIG, that is true - i was thinking it would be fab not having to turn into 3d view to do it.. Takesh, thanks for clarifying - i wonder if the script 'knows' the view plane, perhaps it would behave in '2d mode'

Hello! I'd love to have a version of this plugin which respects group's local axes over world's (model's or global axes or whatever it's called). Currently, if I select nested geometry and try to align it, it will align according to world's axes. In my opinion, more logical (and useful too!) would be relying on group's axes, because right now, if the whole group is rotated (so its axes don't match world axes) and I open it and align nested entities, they will be aligned incorrect in relation to group's bounds. Also, when aligning groups it would be nice to have choice whether aligning takes geometry into account (current behaviour) or just origins of groups. This plugin also has a problem with losing selection after performing UNDO. I know this is an old script but perhaps somebody would take it and include any of these improvements.

My apologies, everyone. My day job, night job, and family are keeping me very, very busy. I've been in contact with Max, and we are trying to work out a functional solution. UPDATE: I just sent Max a file to incorprate into his toolbars for testing. If everything works as I hope, an update should be right around the corner.

That ides keeps popping up in my mind too. But then what about all the other authors who do not host through smustard? There are a lot of them. I think I like the idea of hosting them here, with all the plugins included in the zip file (with all appropriate permissions, etc) with links to the "official" home to each plugin included in the thread. So there could be a link to each smustard script included, to each of Didier's scripts, to TBD's, to Jim's blog, to the thread on this forum where the script is maintained, etc, and a link to Cadfather's page if he'd like (and I think he deserves the publicity for taking the time to do it, and do it well). That way perhaps its easier to track each script and make sure the toolbar is using current versions of each script too. And it can be the SCF toolbar, as a collaboration with the SCF (as its hosted here), Cadfather (since he maintains it and hosts a version on his website) and all authors who frequent here. Is that overkill? And I think that satisfies everything in my mind - a single place to download and install a single package, with quick links to all separate scripts. Chris

No more subforums, please. I think its best off to let them work it out on their own like they are doing now behind the scenes. The details of it all don't need to be public. Chris

Hello¨ First of all, great work! Second, am I the only one getting trouble installing all the SCF bars(power bar, architect, draw tool, selective etc)? They all have their icons in a folder called CD_ICONS, so loading them all in the plugins folder made them overwrite each other. In the end I had to change each folder to CD_ICON1, CD_ICON2, and then change the routing in the orignial rb. file. Am I the only one experiencing this? Third: All my plugin toolbars load at startup except the different SCFs. I have tried twenty times to place them and save the template, but it doesnt work When I manually toggle them on, theyre in the right place, so I guess the template is saved, but the toolbars wont show up without manually enabling them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

so although you can see through the transparent area of the image, you cannot access any info or get behind the scenes on how that is achieved.. last conceptual gasps before giving up then.. can ruby recognize image colour? (i think i can answer my own question in the negative) could a ruby trace a line stroke (something like Didier's 'strokefield generator' if you know what i mean?) lastly, (big chance) could a ruby script recognise/import an ai/svg file? PS already tried the svg plugin but it's buggy (crashes and for some reason it messes up sandbox tools) (promise i give up after this)

Well, ... I just dived into SU ruby because I wanted to create a ruby that mirrored the texture from the front side of faces to the back side of faces. I've been digging in the docs to try to work out how to position textures. I only managed to position a texture in 2d reliably. Even then I'm not sure I'm 100% sure what's happening. I haven't managed at all to get any info from the front face UV co-ordinates that makes any sense. I had hoped that I'd find some good info on this forum. But seeing that the general consensus on SU Ruby texture mapping is confusion I'm now worried to what task I've let myself into. I'd like to try to prompt some of the SU dev team to shed some light to this matter of UV coordinates.

@gultekinmg said: inject that into your code..at "icon_observer.rb" Code for the validation of the icon. def self.obs(id) # ID = Id of your Icon action >> p "This is SU Bug.." and watch them scroll all the way eternity.... NO do NOT do this ! ONLY determine if the return value of the validation proc is MF_CHECKED, MF_GRAYED or MF_ENABLED. Keep conditional evaluations (and any other,) at the bare minimum. ALL visible toolbar validation procs are called by the Sketchup application's main loop, each time the user interface needs to be redrawn (including each time the mouse is moved !!) Menu validation procs are called when a specific menu needs to be displayed.
