After a reboot to try to get Vista to stop telling me I needed V8 to open a file which had been saved with V8, and ignoring my repeated instructions in various places to open SU file with V8, my toolbars are docked where I last left them. SU windows (managers and such) remain uncontrollable.

Yes, I do have it, but I thought it was the fixed version. I'll look for the offending UI:beep or UI::beep.

@utiler said: Hi Brooke, A nice touch is to animate shadows as you move the camera; make the building seem a little more alive! Agreed. Thanks, Andrew. My concern with animating shadows here is adding time to the set up and rendering process. It would seem if the time setting remains static, SU needs to do a lot less computing when rendering. ??? I will likely add more of that, though, and for me, time will flow backward! This because the road in, the approach, is from the west, and the desired path is around the south side to the east and then to the back (north).

IGNORE WHAT FOLLOWS, I wrote it before I saw the light, and go to the bump which follows. **Thank you much, David. I meant to be clear that I think I understand well the scene manger's utility for storing all manner of settings, including axes, and for updating all or any one of them in bulk or individually. What I meant by a user being able to set a default custom axes is that one could set it and it would remain that way until manually changed (including through scenes). Fiddling with scenes would then not be required at all even if one's desired axes differed from SU's geo driven default. 'Multiple defaults' may be a poorly coined phrase, maybe stickily-definable is marginally better?? Anyway, I hope you understand me but I don't want to waste any more of anyone's time on this, even if I can't get any measure of concurrence, out of anyone. I'll be alright.**

That's one of a hell "yellow-back" novel (as well as most of his) but since they are rarely translated to any languages (not as if most of them couldbe translated), they will always remain a secret common language between Hungarians...)

Old but still relevant? I need to look into Fredoscale, didn't know it worked like that. As for the OP the current method I use is to create a template window component to a known size e.g. 2' x 2', then make a "unique" copy which i then edit by "Moving" the sides & head ideally to a known dimension, but it can also be pulled to inference with the opening lines if editing in place. This also works with any sub divisions that can be moved individually.

Uh... 'twas because the edges defining the faces were on a different layer than the other entities in the group and not '0' and the mother entity was on another layer still. Should'a looked there first.... and saved myself the humiliation of being an object lesson in answering one's own, or some such contained more explicitly herein, about being very mindful of nested layers almost always being best '0' and '0' only. (Which I knew and practice, but made a boo-boo just the same.)

hi, you don't have to draw lines to measure from the center point to the steel plate edge. Start dimension, constrain the first point to the center of the circle and click, for the 2nd point, lock into a surface plane and move the curser to the edge of the steel plate and let the mouse pop over to a corner of the plate and click again. So drag your mouse around and orient the still dynamic dimension where you want it. [image: jOja_dimensiontocenter.JPG]

I get the same thing sometimes. Not only with circles. All kinds of shapes. My solution is usually to draw a line over one of the edges of the shape that needs to be cut out.. this usually solves the problem. if it doesn't, I draw a line from one side to the other, crossing the new face. sometimes this does solve the problem, sometimes it doesn't...

Thanks, Chris. These quirks become truly minor when one is made aware that they are 'bugs'. Transparency has virtues beyond the squeak: time, energy may be conserved for other crap.
