Copy vs move inference display

Often when moving an entity some point or similar inference is not found, though it should be. Switching to copy restores the inference and the command may be properly executed but then the otherwise unnecessary editing must be performed.

Any tips on this?

It may be 'glued' to the surface, try to right-click > Unglue

I had to go look up 'glue' and then remembered - I don't use and don't think that is it, but I'll keep an eye open.

I think you are refering to a bug in SketchUp. It is sort of minor, but hopefully they'll fix it.

Thanks, Chris. These quirks become truly minor when one is made aware that they are 'bugs'. Transparency has virtues beyond the squeak: time, energy may be conserved for other crap.
