Styles - edge display query

Styles to me are somewhat baffling owing to the sheer number of settings and my inability to get comfortable with the manager. Here's an example of my ignorance: the image is of Gaieus's recently uploaded grass skp.
The edges of the concrete frame are displayed differently in the different styles but I can't figure out the setting which controls this. Is it just the color of the edge?

Yes, to me it seems to be the edge colour setting which makes the difference.
