RE: A Thread for Fine Design
Apologies to Dale: A thread for fine design and criticism. I dunno, like some may have thought, using a giant round to extract a beautiful veneer seems very wasteful. He's a turner, so he turns. A chemist might use plastic. I'd prefer a shade of wood be made more conservatively, or if not more 'appropriately', not at all. A shade made of veneer would have a seam and be weaker, until plasticized, but 30 could be made rather than one, and perhaps something nice could be made of the seam (e.g., fingers).

RE: Boardwalk around a curve
Looks like a very nice tip. I must try it myself to try to get it lodged where it belongs.

RE: You ever have a shape in your head...
I knew that was a Miami napkin.
In NYC.

RE: Sandbox and Views
To me it matters; I don't mind learning something new. He said plan view and I would not have imagined that a 'select all' and a crossing window across the extents screen would not, in fact, select all. Must check that. Perhaps you knew. I don't know.
Thanks for the image and explication.

RE: Sandbox and Views
I zoomed and zoomed and selected everything
and then only guides and came up empty.

RE: My Man MCA's Got a Beard Like a Billy Goat
Very nice.
Beautiful lily.
A little curve in the stem might work, also.

RE: Curved structure
Here's how to make it easier on us:
I don't understand if the problem is that the reality is too hard to model or if it is that the reality is not properly modeled or conceived. Is that valid or sensible?
In reality, if the edges of the roof on 4 sides are wavy and unequal and the columns are tilted in different directions and are of different heights, that would seem 'modelable' (by Pilou). If you want things to be unique then you must model them that way; if you want to be very particular about how they are unique then you may not be able to replicate and distort one to make the several.
You may want to approximate what you are looking for with discrete entities that you can then provide the morphing connector bits and maybe throw a blanket over the whole thing (still in pieces). You might try the vacuum-bagger or vacu-form plugins, but I am unaware of a release date.
I think you can do what you want with SU, though it will be more rigorous than clay or some digital approximation of same. I hope you keep us posted.

RE: Libfredo problem.
Cat might be silenced and searches and responses improved if you edited the subject line, theoretically speaking.

RE: Sandbox and Views
Odd. I see no clipping and no guides though viewing is enabled in the style and 'view', when zoomed to extents, all layers on. Even when select all, select only guides. Wasting time?

RE: Sandbox and Views
I got the model from the site but still do not know what's missing.
Pic of extents as you posted it.
Pic of extents with contour (all) layers turned on.

RE: Car Insurance!!!
That's strange... should be a real estimate to repair, or no? The fellow may be getting a whole lotto bondo in lieu of some metal?
But good for you. Take the rest of the day off.

RE: Group difficult to select
I went wireframe and cross windowed, then was able to deselect the edge to have the group.

RE: Sandbox and Views
I cannot tell what is missing. Can you post more images or anything to help in viewing the problem?

RE: Curved structure
It is true that the skinning, lofting etc. tools have problems where they cannot tell which points to triangulate/mesh because there are too many possibilities and so the job must be broken down in to pieces, which also has other advantages: ease of replication, componentization, etc.. Why not post a pic or a model or a piece of one? Perhaps someone can help resolve your issues.

Model collection (as shown in previous post) for for you to add your model/s to.
