Well, last year John Bacus of (now already Trimble) said in his presentation at SketchUp BaseCamp in Boulder, Co. that the new SketchUp will be called "SketchUp 2013" so SketchUp 9 is unlikely to happen (and those screenshots seem to be a hoax too).
You can use the Move Tool and move any vertex to an absolute position,[x,y,z],or by a delta amount,<dx,dy,dz>. If the mesh is on a regular grid, my Snap2Grid plugin at my blog might solve the problem.
Ive changed the design allot and got rid of the DELL logo completely, I am thinking about replacing it with Samsung being this would be more up their ally.
The dock is VERY early in its development stage, I was going to add physical keyboard buttons but then I thought it would be pretty bad ass if it was a touchscreen as well.

You can set the image resolution to recover image quality. Image warping is another matter.
If you can not tolerate image warping you need to use unwrapping as the texture mapping method.
Before you establish a trust in create texture tool I would suggest trying it with simple geometries (fewer faces looking more or less the same direction) first.
Unwrap method may fail for (not too much) complicated geometries. Spherical projection needs to find a projection focus from which all the selection is seen from the same side. Let me try to give some examples.
Here is a cylinder textured with standard textures and methods ( cylinder works with regular texture method in SU.
In this case I selected the whole cylinder side and called create texture with png (we have a transparent section) as the image format and unwrap as the mapping method.
Observe that now we can erase the planar edges.
The newly generated texture is like this.
if we select spherical projection as the mapping method the created texture image is like this.
To be able to create a nice mapping I had to triangulate and upsample the cylinder.
The solid color (red) section contains arrows and edges drawn in it, these are sometimes useful, and easy to erase, in an image editor.
Similarly for the following house (ish thing)
for which the created texture is
[image: tuhB_housetexture.png]
In SU texturing ngones may be troublesome, I sometimes triangulate the faces just to be able to get a good uv map.
The attached skp file has the examples.
texturexxx.skp
if anyone is interested I found another method. This will only work if you have 3dsmax
Basically you must bake the texture in 3dsmax but obviously don't have any lighting or shadows checked when you do so This will generate a texture file. Export the 3d model to .dae then open deep exploration and re apply the texture to the model, you wont need to re size just that when you export for some reason it doesn't carry the texture with it. Then export to sketchup and you then are free to delete whatever mesh you have in the middle without ruining your texture.
The downside to this is when the texture is baked it is severely degraded, im still looking for ways to fix it.

Cool Phillip! Looks like you're having learning the rendering stuff. The fuzzy FOV is making it a bit difficult to really judge the quality of the material on it, but it looks like its probably pretty nice.
What renderer are you using?
im using Keyshot. Pretty great renderer for someone who doesn't know much about mental ray. Simple too.
sorry to necro this thread, I felt obligated to update it one last time. The models I cant update anymore because I had to reformat my computer, I placed them on an external hard rive and windows EFS system went nuts, it encrypted it and now I cant get in <.< so someday ill have to crack it open but that doesn't look like anytime soon.

Hi, Philip,
I donĀ“t really know what kind of plugin do you have in mind.
There is a way to set up Photoshop so it can use the tablet input, but I donĀ“t
know if this applies to mesh painting.
As far as I can remember, PS CS4 Extended allows import and export of OBJ, U3D, KMZ, Collada and 3DS models import.
You can edit textures on 3D model in PS CS3.
Finished them
If these were real I probably would buy them.

So I would guess I am pretty quick.

IM(non-legal)O you're admitting you're ripping off Pink Floyd's album cover in your first post. I'd guess that you will similarly admit ripping off Pink Floyd in the description to the model.
I think it will be safe from legal action from Pink Floyd because it will be too low under the record company radar. It might not be accepted by TS though.
I also think you'd be very lucky to make a single sale with that model.
I already sold it off the books but whatever I guess you ppl are right. I should just make different designs.
