I could live with manual tracing, but a flood fill method and the ability to set the origin when placing would be ideal.
It would be useful in SU to show hatching in perspective scenes; I would prefer to see it in LO first though.

I am just wondering who will be first out .
We are working on it in the UK, but Scotland might beat the rest of the UK
Wow that has grown since my previous installation! Thanks for the pointer Rich and Thomas for programming.
I had in my V8 context menus an option to "Select Only >" I'm sure it came with a plugin that I haven't installed in SU13 but I've no idea which one. Any pointers as to how I might get it back, it was a lot more useful that the stock selection tool?

The only work around I have found is to open both sketchup and autocad at the same time. import dwg to sketchup and open in in autocad, copy the vector info from sketchup into layout. then copy text data from autocad and past in layout. tedious...
This is something I hope Trimble will address. It is frustrating for those of us importing CAD files but a major beneficiary would be those using AutoCAD who want to move their business to use SU rather than buying Revit.
I think I'd want a thicker gel seat if I was touring on it and it looks like you missed the tyre valves but other than that it's another amazing render from a master
I hope I'm not alone on this but having recently applied the latest M1 update I was disappointed to find all my toolbar customisation and side pallet arrangements have evaporated back to default AGAIN (happened in v8 as well)! Please can there be some way to retain customisation so I don't have to waste my life reconfiguring every time there is a maintenance release???
I've got TIG's brilliant Section Cut Face plug but there are times when exporting a slice in .SKP format would be a quicker solution for some graphic work. It should be simple enough to implement as the options are already there for DWG & DXF, why not .SKP?
TIG, Many thanks for the latest version. The REDO is working perfectly. The auto update still doesn't but I doubt I would use it by choice anyway as my models are quite complex. You could omit it if there seems to be a global problem getting it to work?
I have been having problems with reversed faces and filled voids which is almost certainly down to my modelling and the well known "when is a hole not a hole" interpretation issue, which is why I was asking for a glued edges only option; I have resolved that by using the native "wireframe" mode for a style showing just the SCFs so I can overlay the linework on my plans.
I've not had time to check the default settings overrides but other than that

If the newly made SCUT is set to 'Glue', then whenever its linked Section-Pane is moved/rotated etc the SCUT faces will be reformed to suit the newly sliced objects. You'll need to complete the move etc so its faces are 'refreshed'.
Whenever the rest of the model is changed, then any Glued SCUTs - irrespective of their 'context' - are updated so their faces correctly reflect what they now intersect, following the changes to the model...
If I move the section and create a new glued SCUT the old one is deleted but as per Bmike's posts the SCUTs aren't updating automatically as suggested by your post even with a simple box.
If there are a large number of sections in a file updating a SCUT after every geometric change may not be good for productivity, it would be better to have a "refresh cut" menu item.

There are several 3d programs on the market that tried to incorporate EVERYTHING ... and ended being clogged and slow...
Been there and have absolutely no wish to return. +1 Evolution not revolution.
Aha I've been making wrong assumption about your super glue.
Could you clarify the update process of a glued SCUT? Say I've created a SCUT for my model, I then go and change the size of an object within the cut plane what are the steps to getting it to update. I ask because I think I'm missing something simple.
for the default edit.
My work flow puts the sections with edges on separate scene managed layers, this allows me hide them in elevations and to use the 2D data for quick and accurate dimensioning in LO. Many LO users will be aware of the frustration of not being able to pick up points on a 3D model for dimensioning and tracing.
The point of picking up the section plane layer is to speed up the layer selection process when updating a cut and avoid unnecessary/accidental layers being created or having to scroll and hopefully pick the right layer associated with the section plane. It just seems a logical progression with the fantastic "Glue" option you introduced with v3.
Awesome update. Thanks TIG
Just a thought but if the section plane was placed on a layer other than Layer0 could SCF pick the layer name up and use it as the default whilst still offering the option to select a new or other layer?
I'd like to set the edges on can I change the default from No?
I would like to automate a simple five step process using SU core commands which goes like this...
Select section face
Routine:
I have looked at the Ruby API but for the above routine I got lost very quickly. Can anyone help me on this?
Of course if TSU would just add .SKP to the export Section Slice file types!!!
The previous version would only section what was visible so you could extract just parts of the model. What flagged it up for me was all my demolitions suddenly reappeared.
My workflow is similar to Sonder's e.g. background and line work except I'm using fills in LO underneath the line work, is it possible for the glue function to work without faces?
With your new version the defaults can't be edited, any chance of making it so all the Y/N options can be preset by the user as well as selecting <No Face>?
Feels a lot faster
One problem, it is creating faces for switched off layers.
I've noticed that in LO below ~140% zoom the linetypes rescale on screen so at 100% there is a discrepancy in presentation from the exported PDF. I'd expect wysiwyg at any zoom where linetypes are concerned.
I've also found the pattern export quality to be underwhelming. The lineweights of the patterns just aren't heavy enough at 100%. I've found them almost invisible until you zoom at least 200%. In most cases the patterns are too big at 1x so I need to set them at 0.5x which makes the visibility even worse because they are bitmaps.
Surely TSU check the quality of hatch output in the industry standard Adobe Reader using real world objects e.g. 4"/100mm bricks or a 6"/150mm concrete slab at 1:50 or 1/4":1' scale?
I hope they don't separate it Mike, personally I would love to see tighter integration. I've been here before with ArchiCAD, there were many complaints and wishes until the two packages were merged so that the drawing sheets could be manually or automatically updated as the model developed without saving and jumping between two programs.
For those that hadn't spotted it between all the whinges and gripes of self induced disappointment, LO now has a Copy Array built in that works just like SU - Copy object then type x99 or /99
