I'm getting this with LO2014 as well on Mac affecting random scenes from the same model all with the same style. Had to switch all the views to raster to ensure textures and images were right in the PDF output.
Nice idea Kris. I like the workflow. I voted yes but I will probably adapt it to my needs. I guess the same thing can be done with windows. Thanks for sharing!
You are probably right Jeff when you factor in the free version; the point I failed to make though was the official support forums and bug reporting pages don't exactly fill you with reassurance that anyone gives a ****, unlike here!

Bonzai 3D is current on special for $150 off regular price:

This could be a good time to make the switch for people looking to do so.
Best,
Jason.Hasn't been updated for a loooong time.
Check blog, support sucks!
Bit like SU then! Putting a new badge on the box doesn't mean anything meaningful happened to the software inside; which really hurts when you are paying a subscription and the changes amount to bug fixes and minor improvements with more new bugs.
I also wonder if SU is really still alive because of the Sketchucation forum rather than any Google or official SU support forum?
@ John. Thanks for the suggestions I do go into panic mode when I see code. The suggestions are appreciated and would have been tried but...
@ Dave, "Reset Workspace" in preferences seems to have cleared it for now and was simple to implement. I was also relieved to find my custom toolbar remained intact.
Thank you both. Problem fixed.
I have tried everything including disabling plugins, reinstalling and rebooting, even just loading a standard template but I can't get the volume to display, I can only adjust the width of the info box. I can modify the shape of other windows but this one seems fixed.
Any suggestions for a fix as I use this for quick quantity take offs?
O.S.: MAC OS X Mavericks 10.9.2
and while it's being improved can we address the export issues...

Thanks.
So we have SU2014 and no movement on this issue. Even changing the object output to colour ByLayer rather than (0,0,0) would be a huge step forward. HOW DO I GET TRIMBLE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SIMPLE FIX!!!
Only played with Bonzai for a few hours but seems to have the modelling features that TSU should be feeding into their major upgrades by now. Oh and they have a support system that is keen for feedback and development ideas ... If you are reading this JB you better get your running shoes on!

All it takes is a smart guy to develop a similar software that will take the ease to use of sketchup and adapt it to nowadays needs. And there will be one... it always had been (this is how good things happened).
I'm looking at my options...

Tomot-- At least I avoided the ACAD thing all these years. But the comparison will not bear out (I hope). For example SU2013 Pro users didn't even have to pay for 2014. And the update to get on bandwagon is $95 compared to what for ACAD? But it's not so bad to stay with what works. I'm on v.8 but gravitating towards 2014.
I recently bought Acad LT; the subscription fee is three times what I pay for SU but at least I can see a return on investment with industry standard DWG collaboration, hatching that works, accurate circles and numerous 2D function that make LO look like a "blunt stick".

Keeping things 'top secret' is all well and good when there are real gems in the offing but meeting popular 'standard' requests on the other hand could be much more openly advised.
Base camp rumo(u)r ??? Going to be a few disappointed travellers if SU already peaked with the 2014 release
Looks like I've spent too much time on AutoCAD LT recently where you can offset a single line... thanks for the quick replies. Need to catch some ZZZzzz's
I have narrowed this down. Draw a rectangle, sub divide it with a single line, now try and offset the single line. For me the single line won't remain selected. This may be a Mac thing as I have only had it a month or so and I have found the same thing in SU 2013. I don't remember it being a problem in SU 2013PC.
So it's ok in Windows anyone else getting a problem on Mac (mavericks)?
Anyone else spotted a change in the offset command?
Previously I could draw a rectangle then pick three sides and offset them and delete the middle face and bottom line to create a u-shaped frame. Offset no longer allows this if there is a face present. Not sure how much of a pain this is going to be, but I spotted it when trying to offset a single line within a shape and couldn't do it without offsetting the whole face. Definitely going to mess with some of my quick 2D drafting
Just stumbled across this... http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000020
Upgrade, Maintenance, and Support program details
New Features: We committed to our customers that we will continue to work on development of new features and functionality. By offering an upgrade, maintenance, and support program, weโre putting the pressure on ourselves to deliver power packed improvements to the SketchUp Pro offering.

I think the application has to remain true to its core use, that it remain as a good 'all rounder' for general 3D work to meet the needs of all types of designers, professionals and hobbyists.
I do however still believe that there is a strong market out there for the taking with SketchUp Pro Architectural and possibly SketchUp Pro Engineering.
I don't disagree with the first bit, what hacks me off is I'm paying a subscription for software which has glaring problems and much potential to improve functionality without materially changing the front end; yet we are being fed this line of nothing is really going to change... what am I paying for?
At risk of repeating myself, if there was any vision at Trimble Towers the core SU we all know and love would be starting to work smarter and getting fixed. I would imagine the introduction of IFC tags was a nod to collaboration; that time and effort would have been much better spent on fixing the existing function allowing users to exchange DWG files. Equally there are many basic design functions missing in SU but this time we got fobbed off with improvements to 2D arcs and shadows, the latter of which I doubt most users would notice any difference.
As for paying for SU Pro Architectural, that's unlikely to happen. If SU basic lacks the basics then what hope is there for a competitive and properly functioning Architectural or Engineering version? Seriously, there are more mature and faster evolving products out there that would more likely receive my cash based on the current attitudes to developing SU.
@mike lucey said:
Rather than talking about beefing up SketchUp maybe TSU should be thinking about totally new related products? Very few car manufactures have just a single model! Most have the basic low cost models that suit the needs of the majority and other most expensive models that meet the needs of the more demanding users.
I don't think a need for new products is at the root of the disappointment around here. On the basis of the last two releases SU has stopped evolving (I have had a licensed copy since V4). I haven't looked at the wish list recently but I can imagine there are items on there that should be considered more usability / bug fixes than bloatware. My personal pet hate is the LO DWG export which is almost unusable at the receiving end. The SU Pro boolean tools were a major investment so why hasn't that evolved into solid section capability. The component hole cutting tool should have evolved to cut walls with thickness. None of these add any significant bloat they would just provide the basic tools many people would expect.
Unfortunately JB's attitude would suggest the subscription model is as many fear, an excuse to take money without having to demonstrate the benefits of upgrading. I guess we are unlikely to see even basic chamfer and fillet commands added anytime soon in SU and we will be left to rely upon the hero's of the plugin community to continue providing even the basics...
