@ Dave, "Reset Workspace" in preferences seems to have cleared it for now and was simple to implement. I was also relieved to find my custom toolbar remained intact. 😮

I downloaded it a few days ago - had no problem with download or installation.

It looks interesting and it might provide a clue as to where Trimble is going with SketchUp.

I'm in the process of splitting a SU model into several separate models which I'll import, perhaps intentionally creating a clash or two to learn how it handles this.

Since this a collaboration application and doesn't have editing tools, I wonder if it will work as a SU viewer.

if it's difficult to communicate with other consultants using the exports form software then, well, it's a problem for the person using SU + LO (and as such, less people will be inclined to use SU + LO).

A bit late to the party i know, but i just wanted to put a vote in for my corsair M95 as the ultimate pointing device.

With 15 assignable buttons at my fingertips, this thing has increased my workflow a lot.

It's very well built with an aluminium chassis, tons of thumb buttons (which i like, and find very easy to reach), has a chunky scroll wheel (with just one click - i've had Logitechs in the past where the thumb wheel clicks side to side, making the central click harder to get).
It's not wireless, which i like since the signal never drops out and i never have to worry about battery life, but has a long and nice quality braided usb cord.

The only downside is that it has no native mac support, and neither usb overdrive nor steermouse will give it full functionality (didn't have any joy with controller mate, but tbh i didn't really fully fathom out the software).

Luckily the device has onboard memory, so i was able to program it with single key or key combinations from my wife's pc, and it all worked great on my mac. Obviously i can't profile for different applications, but i've been able to get the functionality i need in SU, LO, Draftsight and Chrome by adjusting the shortcuts in the software to suit.

Hi Marc, I guess your first paragraph answers a key point that the images should be as small as possible, I was uncertain whether a large or small image was more efficient in L.O. and also under pressure to get the drawings published at the time. I will have a play based on your advice and see how much difference it makes.

The memory usage was flat once loaded, it just seemed to be a very big hit and enough for me to need a memory upgrade to avoid bug splats.

There's not much point in uploading the files if they are so inefficient and I have a few graphics options to crop the images and lower the bit depth which I will do and then post them as they may be of interest to others on this forum.

One other aspect you may be able to answer... I have a plan with a number of connected straight walls; is it more memory efficient using several (un-stroked) rectangles or a continuous trace to create a single pattern fill?

TIG's plugin makes quick work of it but it can be done manually and it is useful to know how. I use this same method for complex turnings to help keep file size down. Splitting it as I do also makes it possible to hide the seam lines.

Start with a circle instead of an arc. Split the circle at the midpoints of sides to create the arc of the desired angle. In the example above I split out an arc of 45° but if you use a 90° arc, the half-segments at the end will be at 90° from each other. To make it easy I drag out the circle on axis and then rotate it half the angle between vertices. So if a 24 sided circle is used, rotate it 7.5°.

The workflow I was using was to create the walls with dline.rb, which obviously doesn't create the floor slab, I was then telling myself I needed to trace the room boundary. 😳 Using what you have suggested it is easy enough to open the wall group, redraw one of the inner edges of the wall to create the face that forms the floor. Select the face WITHOUT the boundary edges and edit>cut. If you select the face AND boundaries the edit>cut will destroy the original geometry. Close the wall group and then paste in place to create the floor which can then be pushpulled, grouped & layered as required. ☀
