RE: [Plugin] AreaTextTag
Hi TIG, as per my update I was advising that with "surface" = No then the perimeter is not exported to the CSV which is what I was expecting. I now understand your reasoning and will default to "surface" = Yes.
Just a suggestion, reporting the perimeter in both modes may be more logical to the end user, but you know better than most what can be achieved with the coding.
Thanks again for another great contribution!

RE: [Plugin] AreaTextTag
TIG, Many thanks for developing this.
I have just downloaded the RBZ and have tried a few variations of tagging but keep getting zero perimeters. The areas are working as expected with simple rectangles and no grouping. Bug or have I missed something?
Update: If I change "Report Surface Area" to Yes then perimeter is reported.

RE: SketchUP importer into AutoCAD
Is it a clean import without triangulation lines and does it maintain smooth surfaces?
I don't have Autocad but it could be useful for other consultants.

RE: Layering SU references
I can see the benefit of being able to give LO a simple reference for dimensioning with just the section lines, but I don't see how this is better than a hybrid section and switching between scenes e.g. with & without background?
Isn't there a risk that you will have to do a lot of redrawing to the exploded section if there are significant (client) changes to the building?
Really like your drawing style Sonder.

RE: 90 degree bends
Many thanks TIG, just what I needed. It was already in my toolbox but now I know what it can do!

90 degree bends
Looking for some quick advice on creating a precise tubular 90 degree bend. What I've noticed is if you use follow-me with an arc of say 12 segments the ends aren't at 90 degrees because they are perpendicular to the last segment of the arc.
Without creating a path with an infinite number of segments what is the best way to get the ends square to a fixed radius?

RE: [Tutorial] Adding roof tiles with section planes
Not only a useful trick for roofs, but a very good demonstration of using nondestructive nested cuts.
Thank you.

RE: Finding the centre point of an arc
Select line tool, hover over arc until inference point appears then move cursor to approximately the centre and the centre inference should appear.

RE: Do you use DC's as part of furniture/kitchen design?
Sorry, not for me Rich. With my work, cabinet work is either bespoke or the client contacts the kitchen supplier to do design & install. Kitchen suppliers over here seem to be quite keen to supply that added value aspect in with the price and I can't compete 'cause they know what they can supply even if some of the resulting layouts are ####.

RE: Do you use DC's as part of furniture/kitchen design?
I can build DCs, but frequently it just seems too much work for the result. DCs are good for parts which use the copy function like stairs but the copy function isn't exactly user friendly if you want to create a matrix.
The biggest frustration comes with angles e.g. creating mitred corners.
Personally I feel happier creating separate components so I don't have to spend time setting the attributes.

RE: A passively cooled house!
Some of us spend our efforts on trying to retain heat!
Thanks for the post, interesting to see how others present and theorise over current sustainable/climate issues.

RE: Window with trim, sizeable static component
Old but still relevant? I need to look into Fredoscale, didn't know it worked like that.
As for the OP the current method I use is to create a template window component to a known size e.g. 2' x 2', then make a "unique" copy which i then edit by "Moving" the sides & head ideally to a known dimension, but it can also be pulled to inference with the opening lines if editing in place. This also works with any sub divisions that can be moved individually.

RE: Scale tool question
If you are using textures (woodgrain?) on your sheets you will find the textures distort with scaling. The way round this is to edit the group contents using pushpull or selecting the relevant edge(s) & face(s) and use the move tool. Alternatively after scaling you can explode and then immediately regroup to reset the texture scaling.

RE: Dimensioning question
Have you possibly editted the text and adjusted the dimension lines to suit new wall positions? Editted text won't update.
If you rescale/stretch the dimension does the value change?
If you put a fresh dimension in does it give the correct value?

RE: Shifting scenes in LO
I've had this if you update the camera position in a linked scene.
-
RE: Dimensioning question
Sounds like the dimension is picking up on your skewed walls. Using layers can you temporarily hide the skewed walls so you are only dimensioning to the rectangle?
-
RE: Move to a point
You could use cut planes with the scenes to expose the point you want to connect to, just make sure the cutting plane is above the point otherwise the inference engine won't find it!

RE: Sticky text.....??????
Andrew, If you start a new blank LO can you select and use each one of the fonts e.g. new drawing for each font? Today I can load "Berlin Sans FB Demi Bold" in a new drawing that definitely wouldn't load the other day, trouble is I can't remember which drawing I was in at the time.

RE: Cottage. C&C welcome
Nicely done, some great texture. That's the most realistic grass I've seen in a while. I'm with Modelhead on the colours though. Image seems too bright and over saturated, but maybe that's cos I'm used to Scottish weather.
