If you go window->styles then click through the little row of buttons untill you get to one that has a little 'profiles' tick box, turn that off and the lines should appear less prominent. Its a little hard to say looking at the pic, but getting the and holding ctrl while you go over the lines might help as well.

@remus said: Im not sure if this will work on a mac, but in windows it remembers the last location you saved to, so if you go file->save as it should initially show the last place you saved to. remus that's true on the Mac as well. But Mac also has in the SU Menu: "File/Open recent" that displays several recent files. If punter is not finding it there, something bad is happening. And no, this isn't common. You also have Spotlight on the Mac for easy searches, so it looks like some thing's going wrong. Hope you find them.

My understanding is that if you export a .png on a Mac, the background comes out transparent. It does not a PC. So perhaps you could export your animation as a series of .pngs from a Mac and then you could put the pngs together into a video, therby getting your video with transparent background. Chris

@chris fullmer said: And for the onclick event, they all trigger simultaneously. So I have one onlick that starts animating a custom attrbiute in EVERY object that moves or hides. So all the textboxes have an attribute that animates 1-60 over 60 seconds. So one number per second. Then on the first text bubble, for example, it is set to be hidden if its "animator" attribute is less than 1 or greater than 6. So it turns on at 1 second intot he video and off at 6 seconds. Or something like that. THen Sangs bubble turns on at 7 seconds and off at 13. And so on. It took a lot of pacience to set them up. Especially sometimes while making all the timers count right, sometimes one or two would get out of synch and would start from 60 and count down while all the others were at zero counting up....yikes! Thanks for describing that. This could be very useful for making presentations. I just wish I could set the camera location and attributes in a timed DC. As far as making this easier to code. I could see this as a good ruby script down the road that let the user enter more basic data, and the ruby does the hard work.

The way to do that is to make a component of each type of picket. Then they each need a hidden attribute asigned to turn them on or off. Then make add a user defined variable to the outermost fence component. Set it as "Users can select from list". Then it will give you a list that you create. Add a name for each type of picket. Lets say there are 3 picket types. Put them in the list like this: Plain - 0 Rounded - 1 Ornate - 2 So now the user will see the name and can select what type of picket they want, and the menu will return a 1,2 or 3 as its value. So now you have 3 separate picket components and a menu option for people to choose what type of picket they want. Now you need to hide all components that are not selected. Do this in the hidden attribute. (I need to mention that we'll use "PicketType" as the user defined variable that creates the menu item that the user selects). Picket 0 should look like this: Hidden - if("PicketType"=0,0,1) Picket 1 should look like this: Hidden - if("PicketType"=1,0,1) Picket 2 should look like this: Hidden - if("PicketType"=2,0,1) That will set each picket component to be visible if the user has selected it from the list. If it is not selected, then it will be invisible. This will be set to all copies of pickets too (I hope). So give that a shot, let me know if it doesn't work like I think it should, Chris

Sometimes I will try for a least 90 seconds.......... Hey, where can I look to find out what all the boxes/*/pencils mean next to the posts??? And if one of my posts are answered is there a way for me to mark it as answered?? You can edit the original post and change the title, add to the front (Solved), that way when someone does a search in the future they see your question and that fact that the thread contains the answer. I "fell for it" because I know and have seen that sort of attitude in the past. One guy at work, who has since "moved on", gave the attitude that he knew exactly what he was doing... we are still finding stuff he scr*wed.

After working with DC a while I've found these rules of thumb. You have to arrest me if I am wrong. One sibling cannot make instantly use of a custom attribute value from the others, a redraw is needed One sibling cannot make use of a custom attribute value within itself more than in one attribute at a time. If you make a custom attribute in the parent refer to a siblings value you can use it simultaneously in all parent/sibling attributes. So the safe thing to do is to route a value from one sibling to another via a custom att. in the parent. Even so if you want to use it locally in more than one attribute inside one sibling.

This thread is what got me thinking about how to animate a ping pong ball that lead to a DC movie I made o Bryce and Sang playing Ping Pong: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=14871 Indeed there is a lot of power with figuring out how to control this better and seeing how other people are accomplishing similar tasks. Thanks, Gaius, that's exactly what I was doing. I'm guessing the grouping thing is some sort of funk on my computer, if others can't duplicate it with this file. Best, Jim

Yah, mee too, that's the good way with the video tuts in general. The ones above however are very easy to follow - even for a non native English speaker (ince listening to a tut sometimes is harder than jus reading a few lines).
