Thanks for confirming that I wouldn't be able to export... Appreciate the reply's.
Now I'm just stuck with trying to duplicate it... I'm sure I can, computers are magical after all It's just figuring out how to do it... easier said then done.

Hello!
Sooo... I've created a very simple model (the most basic of basic house) and have applied a fancy line style to it. I would love to be able to export the 3d model with the line style (possibly as a texture) but have not been able to do that... That has lead me to exporting the model, opening up in 3DS and seeing if I can duplicate the effect.
I tried exporting a mesh and adding squirrelly lines manually and then reapplying... failed.
I duplicated the house and then stuck a shrunken copy of it inside the original, applied the mesh I created before to the outside... but made all 'white' space invisible. Closer, but still... failed.
My third attempt was wrapping the house in invisible walls... and then apply the mesh to those walls. This allowed me to get those lines extensions you would be able to get within Sketchup. Better again, but still not what I want.
While I would love for someone to give me a solution, I don't think it's available... Just wondering what other people have done and attempted to do in order to duplicate line styles outside of Sketchup.
Thank you! I wasn't sure where to put this thread... I am a newb... but I see possible sections this could also fit in.
OK... Yes. If I delete your work, I have no problem reproducing it. As I suspected... user error.
I don't know why, but following the blue axis down was what was giving me the problem. Make's me think there is something wrong with the model somewhere. Ohhh well! I have the curved roof now! Thank you for your patience and help.
SketchUp must not like me...
I can't even get a face to form by doing what appears to be the exact same thing Pete is doing.
If I just draw the roof like what Pete showed... I get this:

If I draw a straight line from point to point... I get a face:
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/350/picture5xk3.png
BUT!! If I delete the original lines, the straight edge and the arc will form a face:
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/2720/picture6rq7.png
AND!! If I undo that delete and delete the arc, the face will stay intact:
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5797/picture7wi2.png
For the life of me, this makes no sense... One side of the arc will allow a face to form, but not the other. I've deleted everything and started over to make sure everything was on the right plane... still nothing.
This doesn't seem like it should be this hard... but I'm at a loss.
Oh man! You guys are both awesome! I would of never expected an answer of such high quality... Animated gifs and everything!
Thank you guys!
Hello... again.
Probably another obvious mistake I'm making, but I can't figure out what the issue is...
I'm trying to draw a curved roof for a castle tower... If I just draw straight from one point to another, no problem! I get this:

But if I use the Arc tool, no surfaces will form:

I had a cross on the upper square that I aligned the arc's with, so they should all be even. Should I not use the arc tool? Is there something else I can do to accomplish the same goal? Maybe I need to explain what I did more clearly? Help please!
Thank you!

Thanx! That should help quite a bit...
I'm going to have to read a bit more though, I'm on OSX and don't see a plugin folder... I imagine its hiding somewhere though.
Well, I solved my problem...
I was blind and did not see the "Show Hidden Geometry" option...
Now I just need a way to select all hidden geometry at once and "Delete!" =D Can this be done?
If that was the case, is there away to reverse the damage? To re-merge all the lines/faces that where cut up by the texture?
Hello,
I am very new to SketchUp and I'm running into a problem that I'm hoping I can turn off some how...
SketchUp keeps breaking lines and faces up into multiple parts with either 1.) no apparent reason or 2.) following a texture.
To get an over view of what I'm doing, I'm trying to photo match a drawing of a castle.

In the picture below (this would be the very top of the structure) it's breaking the square up into 2 parts. You can see one half is selected, the other is not. There is no geometry inside that square that would cause that separation line and I don't think its a plane issue... it seems random.

In this picture, it's breaking the face into 2 parts because part of it has the photo match texture projected on it... the other half does not. This is not useful for me... I want the entire face and/or line to be selected by default.

Is there an option to turn this off? I've looked but I can not find...
Please! and Thank you!
