I usually create a separate curved section the same proportions as the logo. Import the logo and paint to the section then apply to the cylinder. Remember, if the logo is not bounded by a rectangle, lets say it's a circle, you will need to create a transparent bg and save as a png.

This won't help, but you arn't alone. We have Sketchup7 installed on about 80 PC's in some of our computer labs and they all crash if you try and access the 3D Warehouse. Other PC's in differnt labs are fine, other people connected to the same netwokr through a laptop are fine. We're stuck as to the reason why - we can only assume it's a hardware or a network conflict somewhere. We can only get Sketchup to work if we deactivate 'use hardware acceleration' in the OpenGL Toolbox, but this has had no effect on the 3D Warehouse.

Usually this issue can be traced on the graphic drivers not supporting OpenGL correctly. The issue is that video cards and their drivers sometime do not handle correctly all the OpenGL instructions, and that is why you see this kind of selection issues. Unfortunately on the SketchUp side we cannot do much to fix this, the only solution is to pressure video card owners to fix their video drivers. As Gaeius pointed out, this problem is increased by the fact that video cards and drivers are replaced constantly by manifacturers. It is always recommended to have the most up to date drivers, and a video card that supports OpenGL 1.5 or higher. And you can look here for more detailed recommendations. http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36252 thanks. Simone.

To Gaieus and anybody else. If there is one thing I have learned over the thirty years since college graduation, it is that you never stop learning. Another thing I have learned is that there is always someone out there somewhere who has more knowledge than me or is smarter than me and since computers and forums have come into existence these sources of knowledge and wisdom can be accessed for answers or ways to find answers. You guys are part of the source. Thank you for that. mitcorb

Looks good so far. I did notice a few things though. There are a few extra lines lying around. 2 inside the main component, then 1 inside the board component. Maybe more I didn't see, but those stuck out at me. When I scale to me them longer, they jump and resize incorrectly. If its on typical span, then they shrink down to really small. Good luck, they look great! Chris

Hi Halkun (and welcome). The method you are doing is the way it should be done in (native = no plugin) sketchup. One thing you need to know however is that intersection lines will always appear in the context you are in at the moment of performing the action (i.e. in your case, outside of either component) this also means that you can only perform a boolean intersection if the two shapes are within the same context (i.e. in your case they are not two, separate components) Well, that was two, not one, but the solution is: after placing both components and the other geometry, explode everything, do the intersection and delete unwanted geometry. There is also a fine "BoolTools" plugin should you need this operation very frequently and especially hate deleting unwanted stuff. It's $ 10 however - but that's only a snack at McDonalds... It works with separate groups (and end up with one, "joint" group)

Got it, got it! I actually got two folders when I unziped the download. One had two ".rd" files, which I'm familluar with, and another folder named RDE_Dir with Quickcard Roundedge-english-v1...June08.pdf, RDE_cursor_roundedge_bezier_No.png, RDE_icon_roundedge_pezier.png, RDE_cursor_RoundEdge_Bezier_OK.png. So, I printed the .pdf and put all the other stuff in the plugin folder...... I had just never seen all the other stuff and had put only the two .rd files in the plugin folder.... Now I just might be a little smatter.... Thanks

I feel for you. I have been through all this. I have managed to get Sketchup Pro 6 (version 6.4.245) to work with OS X 10.3.9 Panther. On a Pismo of all things. It is running in evaluation mode at the moment, I will keep you posted on whether it reverts to 'free' mode at the end of the 8 hours. Mind, beware of all the links you can find on a google search. Honestly, I don't know why they make it so difficult, without an easy to find 10.3.9 download up front on the main site it is all too easy to be driven into the welcome arms of cr**kers phreakers spammers and goodness knows what else. Here is what I did, and its all from the official source too (note health warning above): Download PM101494ENA.dmg from the google website. This is the Sketchup 6 Pro version I am using. It is on the page 'Downloading older versions', not an easy page to find, here is the link http://www.google.com/support/sketchup/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=60107 Click on the link Google Sketchup Pro 6 <Mac OS X> to get the file and save it to your desktop. Once it has downloaded, double click on it to unpack it. Open the unpacked file. DO NOT CLICK ON THE INSTALLER. This will complain about wrong OS X version. INSTEAD, right click on it (ctrl click) and then click on 'Show Package Contents' from the menu which pops up. This will launch a Contents folder, which you can then open and then install the individual packages (there are 4) individually. All very demure, no mention of wrong OS version this way. Voila, enjoy. Worked for me, all appears to function as it should, your own mileage may vary, good luck.
