this is definitely quite the list.. i might just have to utilize it too, if no one minds. and for the record, i too like modelling from plans/elevations...not sure why, but it can be 'fun'... its probably a good chunk of my workload, too.

I wouldn't mind at all but it turned out I didn't need to make it because Jim already did. You can find it at the link to his blog. I was interested in the Crayola crayon colors which he did a few weeks ago. It just goes to show there's nothing new under the sun.

May I also bring the "SketchUp Quick Reference Card" into your attention? It is very brief (one page) but lists all the mod keys for every tool as well (in case there would still be something to be surprised at)

@solo said: Yeah I'm looking forward to the official windows 7 release, I was tempted to get the beta but decided to wait and make sure that all the problems are ironed out. Window 7 is gonna be the best MS OS to date I have no doubts, from what I've heard online is that it supports pretty much any and everything, It also works great with all the new chips and old ones. I wonder if any Mac users have tried windows 7 with bootcamp yet? and if so how does it work? I've been using the W7 beta and this thing is rock solid. I don't feel it's a beta at all. Completely different from the Vista beta. Going to install the RC when I get some spare time. What I just found out about W7 is that, besides being really good in terms of backwards compatibility mode, they are also offering an XP virtual environment via VirtualPC just in case there should some oddball application that would require it. Haven't got to try that feature yes, as you need the RC installed. (plus, I've had no issues with any application.)

Hi Solo and Gaieus, Thanks for the feedback. I have enjoyed the good cheer and banter. And they say people with engineering PhDs from Purdue ain't got no sense of funny. Actually the title of the post says it well: "simplest animation approach sought". Also in my post to the Welcome New SketchUp User of May03, 2009, I have mentioned the reasons for this work. The images will be used in a case study & article that I have just finished. The subject is aviation safety. In 1996 there was a night time air crash with a AeroPeru Boeing 757 where the static ports were accidentally left covered with tape ( see photo of wreckage ). This led to the generation and display of erroneous flight data that ultimately caused the plane to impact with the sea. I have come up with about 25 solutions, and this is one of the simplest ones. The airflow causes the cover to lift and clear the ports. Another uses a laser light source. All of this work is voluntary and on the basis of Common Good. I hope you like the new use for a Segway. Appreciate your feedback and ideas so far. I will keep asking them questions. .. ss [image: BUkh_ports.jpg] [image: qetX_Fig.8.jpg]

It really depends on what you are looking for: Interior Exterior Studio Sunrise Sunset All of these are quite different settings. Have you checked the Argvis website as there are some good ones there. Scott

@wo3dan said: I'm able to place a (transparant) box on a corner of a building at position: 51.828187N / 4.706535E , checked by placing a (corrected) place mark!!! Next I'm able to reposition that box on: 51.828188N / 4.706536E , checked again by placing a new (corrected) place mark!!! Hi Wo3Dan and other fellow SU designers. In our environment we would need the same level of precision (5 or more decimals) and unfortunately the SU designers don't want to support our (and Google Earth's) needs. You seem to have been able to create a work-around, but unfortunately I cannot quite catch the idea. Can you give a more detailed account of the procedure that you use. It seems to me that you are creating precisely aligned placemarks in Google Earth and that you import (Tools > Google Earth > Get Current View) them into SU to get better precision. Is that correct? I still have a feeling that the easiest way to settle the problem would be that the SU designers would offer us the same level of precision that is being required in the Google 3D Warehouse - Acceptance Criteria. Correct alignment won't be achieved as long as rounding errors produce deviations of a magnitude around 5 meters (as they do in our area).
