@linea said: This method works; Go to C, program files, google, sketchup. Find the the SU boot icon, Leave that window open while you find an existing SU file. Drag the existing su file over the top of the SU boot icon. Sketchup opens fine. Thank you, but I can't try it (you know, now I have XP again). As I said before, I think the problem is in the drivers I installed for my graphics card.

that is what I thought I did, I even saved the file, but for some reason, unknown to me, the scene gets corrupted, updated, modified, who knows what, it just is not what I know I had saved, and still am very uncertain as what I can do to in fact have a "saved scene". thanks for the insights and experienced perspectives. aloha red

It's "published" here: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=19011 Still in debugging phase (say "Alpha testing" - mainly for developers to help) but you can put your hands on it to see where it's going.

Depending on what you really want to do, I believe some workarounds do exist in SU. Just too tedious.

I don't know where to get it, but I've found a good rim that you can model in SketchUp: http://www.custom-wheels-n-rims.com/images2/dodge2.jpg Hope This Helps

@ely862me said: Edited: just find the pdf splitter and merger That's good because I wouldn't have known the answer as I have never tried to do this (just thought it would work) So you spared me some trial and error playing around now. BTW SU Pro can also export to pdf and that's even vector based (unlike PDFCreator which will export a raster pdf only). (Just trying to look nice at Google )

Doesn't SU understand them all? face.material = 255 # This is RGB integer here Blue face.material = 16711680 # This is RGB integer here Red face.material = 0xff # This is hex Blue face.material = "red" # Red by name face.material = "#ff0000" # This shows it as a 32 Bit Hex RED face.material = "#0000ff" # This shows it as a 32 Bit Hex BLUE Edit: Corrected color-names since the low Byte is Blue

Thanks for all your comments, they help a lot. First, as expected, I can see some problems with my workflow. I was taking a floor plan into SU, then an elevation, and coordinating them. There were minor discrepancies— for instance, a wall 1/64" out of line. The snaps & inferences happened with different lines. Second, while I'm currently working on a building, but I can see places in the furniture where small triangles did not close. Third, the scale thing. I wasn't getting it before, but the bit about only closing in so far has been keeping me from getting close enough to see the problems. On to the next: What's going on when Push/Pull will select a face, but will not move it? Or will only move it a certain amount, then refuse to budge? Or not move it until the mouse moves in just the right direction, after scribbling around trying to find any way that works? Best, JIm PS: I'm in the States. What are millimeters?

If the aspects you need are the same for every model, id do it by first rotating copies of the component to the desired by angles then moving each copy to its own layer. Then by turning all the layers bar one off and making a new scene you can control the visibility of each angle using scenes. When you then go to change the subject, you only need to edit the component and your aspects are left unchanged.

I wish there was a feature to apply textures positioned or at least projected on groups and components. Unfortunately we can only do this on "raw" geometry.

@unknownuser said: If you are talking about the WallFraming in SU7...it is dynamic. Oh, wow, Thanks for the info. I haven't had a chance to investigate the "dynamic" component thingy. So what does that mean in relationship to the 0,0,0 issue? I'm not familiar with these yet. fitZ

@pongo1471 said: love the quote in your sig Chris ^_^ well chears for the reply, gues it will have to do then im using the dynamic creation to help my development in building mesh's for IMVU (its simmilar to second life) anywhere you want furniture you need a furniture node and each needs to be named and numberd correctly, its just the same name with an increasing number, was just hoping there was something to overide the naming veriation and then just have 1++ or something in there to show thats the veriable each time to incriment well ill keep an eye on the thread in the hopes someone knows any different ^_^ Well if you are only looking at furniture nodes on IMVU the just copy and paste making each one unique as you go then use Neo's plugin. It's found in the SketchUp groups down loads sticky. if you are wanting all types.. I am working on and having some selected people beta a plugin based on TIG's and Neo's Plugin. It does require copy and pasting and making unique and naming seating nodes with special coding.. but it seems to work. At least so far.. will post more info if it does work out. By the way that's my IMVU name too!

HI Gull, hi folks. A quick way to find the center of an exploded circle is to trace a diameter between facing endpoints. The midpoint of this line is the centerpoint of the circle. Use it and one of the endpoint on the exploded circle to redraw a new circle. Its geometry will overlapp the segments of the exploded circle. You will not have these in double, dont worry. Delete the diameter and then you can use the Dimension Tool to get the diameter or radius of the circle. Just ideas.
