With the sort of structure you want to build you are better off spending a few minutes making suitable components. Here I have made a 3 component joint with rotation points on a separate layer. Using this joint you can very quickly throw together a very complex structure. You start with one joint component and then make unique as needed to get the various arrays you want. You can change angle and rotation and redraw the faces of the components to create whatever shape pipe you want. This is simply a way of having components correctly aligned to each other. As with anything of this type, if you consider how it would be constructed in real life you usually find that using a selection of parts is the best way to go. Also by using this type of joint, you give yourself a framework from which to use curviloft or Extrusion tools etc to make nice connector fittings. Of course the other very simple way of doing it would be to construct it from a bunch of lines then use Pipe along path, or profile builder or some such to finish the construction for you. Thank you numerbis By turning on the hidden geometry I can get to the texture option and it is not projected. Unless I turn on hidden geometry to get to a single face I do not have the option for right-click texture thank you

Thanks for the help. I currently use Solidworks in my business. My brain has been conditioned to expect the program to react a certain way. I usually see "create drawing" and then I insert the model. I will get used to it. Thanks again. Tom

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I pretty much had the first section sorted but have never used FFD. That seems like a huge help for the last contour Cheers again!

And if you want use some useful Plugins (after mastered the classic tools) try the Didier Bur Projection where the last icon can extrude a line(s)! Of course you can move draw them in any 3D angle direction! So any junction will be a game's boy! If you move all edges of a plane surface(s) that is an "open Tube" Push Pull Multiple with a direction! [image: mh7a_junction.jpg]

@timdean said: ......I cannot get shadows to project on the ground, or even clearly on surfaces as I have seen in others' architectural models. All that happens as I slide time and date is a subtle variation in shading on surfaces until it blacks out. Any suggestions? Where are your axes? See if reset is available if you right click on an axes in empty space. (Ground plane [R/G] for some reason could very well be 100m above your modeling space).

@seasdes said: Thanks all for your replies. However, it does not seem to make a difference whichever direction that I draw an object. It makes a big difference in which way you draw your rectangle, looking north, south, east or west or down. You may have some help with something I made a few years ago: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=509c2a6868ab3855b2dd3120ca5e0662 (Circles may act different!) But it's better to forget about the whole thing and only remember and concentrate on what is important in good modeling. Ultimately all white (front) faces face outward.

Hi Aaron, i downloaded the Build edge Plan and installed it on diverent Versions of Sketchup. it is not possible to test it, allways i get the message "Build Edge pro has expired". 3 years ago i worked with this Plugin and Sketchup 2014, I was very pleased and all worked fine. i also tryed to install my old version, but i think it's not longer working, the last years i had not installed Sketchup and Build Edge plan. Now i would buy Build edge plan, but when i click on "buy" I will be forwarded to a Domain "http://store.buildedge.com/" Where there is no possibility to buy the Plugin ??? Please send me information how i can buy Build edge plan. Attached a Mail from 2014 for info. Sorry my bad englisch, i hope you can help me. best regards Rudolf E-mail from Brendon Studholme 2014 E-Mail from 2014
