@wo3dan said: jstubler, This is how it could be done with 'Smoove'. See in 3DW: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ddd73336a94a3809c64f5c20341137c8 cheers, Wo3Dan That's awesome, thanks a ton for doing that. I see what you mean bout the picture of the soccer goal, how it sort of gathers at the bottom. I think I'll try for a middle ground, partial gather and partial straight at the bottom. Your method is definitely better then what I was trying to do. Again thanks! Cheers to ya too..

Why not just use an image, scale it to look like ridges? Use one of the sketchy edges. This way your poly count is low which is a good thing if you are going to copy it a bunch of times.

Still it's got something to do with the "face me" property - if you uncheck that, Bryce won't cast shadows either and vice versa - if you check that for the cube, it will also cats shadows. Still weird why a face me component should behave differently.

I've made a few decent models for my university work, that I would love to post. One model was very instrumental in selling them on the design. But they are an important client, and they requested I don't post their projects

Baz...if you insert the tree file into another model it becomes a "follow-me" component, so always faces the camera. aha, Ive been doing that with 'save as'. thanks tom. baz

Cool, Bruce, For some reason this "colonial" style was quite fashinable here about a decade ago so there are still a lot of such furniture them in homes.

Hi folks. Yes it can. I developped a tutorial made of eigth separate SU files that I posted in the old SU forum a while ago. The problem is that some of the individual files are larger than the 512 K limit on Sketchucation. I will try to upload these on the 3D Warehouse during my Christmas vacation. After that I will post the link here in this forum. In the mean time, here is a JPG showing what can be done. Just ideas. [image: PHaX_CanadairC-SerieModel130.jpg]

Hi Guys, apart from TIG's future (and ever wonderful) solutions as for now, can you just use his section cut face ruby (with wich though section cuts remain static) they are actually turned into a group to which you can attach a text label easily. Or do I miss something now (again - as usually )?

Gidon, As a noob I don't have a vast library of models to share, but I'll give it a shot.Remember what I said at the top of this page......nothing flashy. We are in the process of building a new workshop for my wife.We were considering two different locations on our property, both with various limitations on what we could do.I started giving her options on floor plans, window layouts, site location etc.Just simple boxes with a roof on top.As with any building project we went through many versions, most of which were put out of their misery with the delete key. Here's an example for site #2:Triple shop.skp Pretty rudimentary SU work for sure but it really helped us determine what would work best for us. And, a couple photos of how the actual project is going. [image: NLqk_tripleshop1.JPG],[image: xVIn_tripleshop2.JPG] We chose the version in scene 7 of the skippy and couldn't be happier with the way it worked out. As a builder I was able to refer to that very simple model and create quick sketches for my excavators, concrete sub,and myself for window and door layout,sf of sheathing, roofing etc.I like the way SU helps me visualize just the details I'm working on at the moment so I can move on with a project. We are about ready to start trimming the interior and I have some cabinet and trim details to work out..........I'll post another skippy of a couple things I'm working on.
