Hi Chris, Her is a little translation of Matt666 thread : Import the component you want to update : File -> Import In "Window -> Components -> Select -> In Model", right clic on the component which has to be replaced and clic on "Select Instance" [image: file.php?id=14476&t=1] Right clic on the new component you have just import and clic on "Replace Selected" [image: file.php?id=14477&t=1] Ciao, Oli

Joe, I don't think you will find a better forum around for learning SketchUp. We also have a Woodworking Forum in our Special Interests section which will probably be very suitable for you. http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewforum.php?f=156 You will need to subscribe to see it. Just go to your User Control Panel (UCP link, top left of screen) choose the Usergroups tab and select the forums which interest you. These will then show in the Special Interests section.

@watkins said: I find the thread textures very useful for reminding which are tapped and which are clearance holes. All too true. This is a common deficiency of many 'exploded' diagrams, distributed as instructions. I've depicted such by copying the circle multiple times, at small intervals, to represent threads. I suspect no one will count them, nor measure the pitch, nor notice that it's not a helix. I wonder which is less memory-intensive, 'image texture' threads, or multiple circles? Taff

Actually this is one of the SU things I really hate on OS X. Even when the previews are displayed, they are ugly and too small. What's with this funny little curled piece of paper with a pin in it anyway? SU files don't match the default OS X format for either documents with or without a preview. The non-preview kind of matches, but is a poor, crude substitute. Image files have thumbnails, so why can't SU files have thumbnails without this curled piece of paper thing? Definitely a 'could do a lot better' for V7 IMO.

hi arroway textures are the best available, they are just VERY heavy ( big quality) to use in SU directly...each file is about 15-70 mb sometimes... for those that are just using SU ( and no render tool) i would not suggest getting them, but for the other lucky ones they rock! Nils

I'm not good with texturing in sketch up,but what I notice that Google Shetch Up 6 had terrible 3DS exporter,so I use Sketch Up 5,give much better and quality export...don't know maybe that's one peace of exporting problem. One more thing, some model part could be transparent after exporting,it's beacuse you need to all out faces been proper turn, when you create box or any shape make shure that are faces turn properly.

Thanks, I mix up Preferences and Model info time to time. They both change units but in a different context.

Thanks for the reply. I've taken a look at that plugin, but from my understanding it is very discrete in the sense that you can only "move" an object a discrete number of times through the use of the "transformations" option in the right click menu. I however am reading a log file with possibly hundreds of coortdinates, and what I want to get from sketchup is a way to position a 3D object and set its coordinates as I am reading the log file. I mean, it should be quite simple to set its coordinates, then update them and get rid of the old ones etc... Is there not a way to do this through the ruby script? Thanks in advance.

What's happening is there are some really small edges defining the edges of those particular trees. The style is dropping all lines under a certain length. That is more a feature of how Styles work rather than a problem. You can have some control over what threshold is used by the Style. If you edit the Style (Edit tab in the Style panel) you can make adjustments in the Edge settings. Note there is a 'level of detail' slider that can be adjusted. Also note the 'Halo' setting that can played with to alter some effects. Make your changes looking at the model so you can see what impact various settings have. Regards, Ross

hello Chango, I bought this envelope in Japan in 1987 in Kokura City Kitakyusu, and the seller told me that it was Japanese handcrafted silk, perhaps was a lie, and you are right. I beg your pardon if I have made a mistake. best regards

I run a PC so I don't know what this means, hopefully you do. But the standard response to this issue on a Mac is to "trash the plist" or p.list or something like that. That seems to do the trick for most Mac users. Chris

Hi Simon, I'm not sure what you want either. If you want to display an SU model, you can put models into a Google Earth window inside your web page. Once there you can use the GE Navigation Controls to move around the model in 3D. Have a look at the topic below: Google Earth Plugin at http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=11115&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a. If that's what you're looking for, you can see a sample of this at: http://www.twharvey.talktalk.net/index.htm Good luck, Tom

In case anybody has a problem like this, Ive found that skechup (as well as CAD) has problems with arcs that you offset repeated times..... everytime Ive had this problem since I first posted this, I realized it always happens with offset radii.... now I just draw quick free hand contour lines instead of arcs and tangents, the accuracy doesn't matter as long as your close - because triangulation (what SU uses to create a TIN in sandbox) is kinda random and organic, and should be to represent earth forms.
