Thats what I do. I map the drive the same letter on both machines. I would highly recommend that you backup the drive either to another external or locally on your home machine. Portable drives are highly unstable. I almost lost a lot of data this past year.

You could also try to use two diffused layers. The back one with the actual concrete texture on it and then cover that with a colored diffused layer with a transparency perhaps. Just a quick thought in my head. Rob

i learned v-ray on the demo a couple of years ago. while for work i generally use thea render, i have to say a few days into this version and i am very pleased - feels friendlier (love the fresnel by default!), it's fast and the tweaks are clearly geared towards the user. by the time SU 2014 comes out with 64 bit support - you won't need much else. (i can just imagine another extension warehouse for all the max plugins ported to SU).

Im currently using the Vray 1.6 Beta, but the materials are all the standard Vray basic material pack. I bumped the glossy samples up from the base 8 to something like 25. Im not at the office right now but later I will be so ill check on the material settings. Truthfully I think its in the render settings and not the material because it happens across the whole model with any material that has some reflection to it.

you should put something similar to a bump map with a black background in the perpendicular slot of of fresnel map, that will give nice reflection effects on the leaf and no reflection to the transparent bits

yes, same result - i'm going to try with different subdivs cause i have a feeling it's somwething to do with the shadows. the tall cube is not touching the ground but about 2cm off the floor..

There is good chance that the OBJ file you are using doesnt have materials applied to it. There is a tutorial I made up on the Chaos forums for using Blender to make vrmeshes. Try this method.

a whole bunch of people are having the same issue follow this http://sketchupvrayresources.blogspot.ca/2011/07/trick-removing-splotches-in-vray.html it might also be caustics. i was having the same issue but for me it was glossy reflections that were the problems. it depends on your specific situation. but try it still. i know that vray can be really overwhelming. cheers

Our 1.6 beta gave you some time before the watermark kicked in, but this is no longer the case.

you may change the background, or also put some hdr maps in the reflect slot, or maybe create some coloured light sources which are invisible to camera but affect reflection..
