    • RE: 2013 crashes everytime i use fredo6's bz tools?

Ive been running into similar issues over the past 3 weeks now. Sketchup has become very unstable using any of the Fredo tools (running SKU Pro 2013), but the root of it seems to stem from a plugin I installed called the Energy Plus Legacy Open Studio (its utter crap ans also breaks V-Ray and a bunch of other plugins). Immediately after installing it I've had nothing but headaches. Ive since uninstalled that plugin, uninstalled and reinstaled a fresh version of Sketchup, and reinstalled everything else (fredo and other plugins), so I thought the problems would stop, but It still persists. I get the most issues when running round corners, Joint Push Pull, and Curvizard, as well as the boolean operations native to sketchup.

I used to have a script that I could run that seemed to do the trick, I have no idea what it is or where I got it, but I would run the .bat operation, and it would re-organize the plugins menu and I would get more reliability out of the plugins. However that was in SU 8, I don't know if it would work in 13.

Anyway, all that said, I can reproduce the bug-splat issue consistently by running the round corner operation. Operations to reproduce go like this:

      1. open new sketchup scene
      2. create geometry
      3. run round corners (any of the 3 will do)
      4. operation will finish.
      5. once the tool is finished; clicking, closing or any next operation will result in a sketchup bug-splat.

Ill check tomorrow when I get to work, see if its pulling too much memory and thats crashing SU or maybe theres a background operation that keeps running causing the crash? Im not really sure. But things are not going well at the moment. I'm pretty sure its a plugin conflict, I'm just not sure where because everything was running great 3 weeks ago and thats the setup Ive reverted too.

    • RE: Black spots on reflection

Im currently using the Vray 1.6 Beta, but the materials are all the standard Vray basic material pack. I bumped the glossy samples up from the base 8 to something like 25. Im not at the office right now but later I will be so ill check on the material settings. Truthfully I think its in the render settings and not the material because it happens across the whole model with any material that has some reflection to it.

    • RE: Black spots on reflection

Im having a similar problem. I keep getting some awful black spots all over anything reflective. My 1.6 will only render one scene at a time too. Ill go to render a second scene and will get nothing but sky. Anybody have ideas on how to fix it?

    • RE: Garden collection

I saw the garden pack on the store page but I'm wondering if you're thinking of doing the same with trees and larger foliage?

    • RE: [Plugin] Soften/Unsoften

Does anybody know of a plugin that allows me to soften multiple grouped objects? I have a lot of 3DS models that i import that need to be smoothed and cleaned up, but I have to open each group and soften them individually, which is quite painstaking. Any Suggestions?

    • RE: Messin' around with my '56

Hey, If you ever need photos of specific parts, or diagrams let me know. I have a 56' at home and a pile of maintenance and repair manuals for it. Its not a Nomad like what your modeling, but for the most part their all pretty much the same guts.

      Amazing model!

The upper A arm could use some rounding on the outside edges ! 😳

I still can't believe your degree of patience !!

Yeah, I've worked on that. And the lower control arm. And pretty much everything else. I think I'll just buy a '56 and use it for reference (shouldn't cost too much, after all it's 56 years old, right?)

As for my patience, sometimes I do run short of that. But I remind myself that "There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it over" πŸ˜†

    • RE: [Plugin] Layer manager

      Ken,

I'm not sure if this has been answered, I didn't read the entire thread, but have you gone to View> Toolbars> Save Toolbar Positions before you install? I used to have a similar problem, but once I save a toolbar position set up all I have to do is run through the process of View> Toolbars> Restore Toolbar Positions, and I'm good to go. Have you tried that? Or does this particular plugin just kill any saved toolbar locations when its installed?

Just curious, and I hope that helps!

      Mr. Bur

Thanks for you very useful script.

Just a side note, installation of your script has re-arranged all my toolbars. This is nothing new, it happens with every script installation that adds a new toolbar. So I have to re-arrange the menus, and usually they are not in the same order, and another learning curve is required.

But this time, I have outwitted this darn re-organizational mess. I took a JPG screen snap shot of the toolbars before installation. Imported this JPG into a Sketchup model and saved the model as SketchupToolbars. So now I just load this program and re-arrange all the tools bars as the JPG indicates. Now no new learning curve.

Mr. Bur again thanks for the script.
