Yep, it is. 1.49.01 used to purge out any saved material settings when you loaded a material from the SU material library. It also purged all of your material settings on a copy and paste and importing a component. Those days are over! 2.0 keeps these settings. So, when you create a material you like, just drag a copy of it from your material browser in SketchUp into a V-Ray material folder. That way, you have all your favorites ready to go. I have a library with glass, a few plastics, grass with bump, concrete, etc. Things I use all the time. Another tip is make a library with a generic gray diffuse and a reflection layer at various glossiness levels and save those as a starting point for making plastics. For example, I have a library that has Plastic 90, Plastic 80, Plastic 70, etc. Then all I have to do is apply this from my library to my model and adjust the diffuse color right in SketchUp and I already have my reflection layer setup. NOTE - that any maps such as reflection or bumps are not saved along with the SKM file, so you need to have a network library location that keeps them organized and in a central location.

that error message is happening because SketchUp has used up all available memory that it is allowed to use. All versions of SketchUp prior to 2015 have been 32bit applications, which are limited to 4gb of memory. SketchUp 2015 is available as 64bit, and is capable of using a great deal more memory. I would suggest visiting our help page about 64bit workflow: http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY2SKETCHUP/64+Bit+Workflow I would also suggest upgrading to the latest version of both SketchUp and V-Ray for SketchUp, being able to utilize more than 4gb of ram while rendering is quite a big deal, especially for our users out there that have 16gb+ of ram in their workstations.

To me this looks like jpg artifacts. Outputting as a png file should see that 'rainbow' shading disappear. David

So I solved the second problem of the dark background by adjusting the BG Colour and intensity settings, but still stuck on the lights. The problem with creating an emmissive material and applying it to a tube shape is that you can see where the tube ends, and I would like the light to kind of fade away as in the image if possible..

@dcauldwell said: Ooops! my misreading of the question. Vray only shows the time it has taken to render, and not how long it is going to take. Despite this missunderstanding, im looking for this info actually... thank you Sir

We don't respond to all bug reports necessarily. Only if we need additional information, much like sending a bugsplat off to Trimble, or a crash report off to Apple or Microsoft. Due to the volume of reports, and the level of technical knowledge required to give a productive response, we just can't respond to reports very frequently. We thank you for your feedback, and I can assure you it was not lost in the system. We link related cases together, and your report was likely closed with the other cases related to it. The dome light editing issue was addressed in this release, as were the other issues mentioned in this thread. If you check the changelog of our current 2.0 public release (it's out of beta now) you should see those issues noted as being resolved.

If you've changed the color but it still shows as white, you might try reducing the intensity of the light. The light is probably just too bright to see the color in your render.

@cuttingedge said: hey guys , had this similar problem and had not found solution. mine looks even worse..I posted this somewhere in this site but none was able to explain. Now Im thinking to shift rendering to another software because of this issue. Can anyone help please. i think i found a solution for this as i have also experienced this with close up shots. you have to uncheck "use light cache for glossy rays" in the light cache rollout. i hope that this tip would help you out.
