If it is a 360 HDRI, you don't need to change anything. Check that you have the mapping set to Environment. If it's blurry its because it is a low res file. There are some hi res ones on here for free, give it a try. Consider buying some commercial ones if you really want hi quality domes.

You could also try a normal map or bump map to try and get the reflections going in different directions on the wire.

Put a bullet in 1.49 man. It was great for it's time but it's a bit of a turd in comparison to 2.0.

it won't be addressed in the upcoming service release, but it will be something we look in to for our 3.0 release.

I know nothing about VRay, but have you checked to see if you have any reversed faces and if you have a material applied to your front face?

You should be able to just change the file extension on the material to be .vismat. This will work on the Glass Standard material, but yes, The VRayBRDF material is incompatible with 1.49.

Not sure if everyone got the newsletter, but the service release is up on our site now.

I think I may have a solution. Don't mess with the transparency in the refraction layer, unless you have more than one refraction layer. Just leave it black

If you're using vray 2.0, you should see a progress window come up. Are there any errors that show up there? Look specifically if there are materials that are failing to load.

Thanks, it turns out I didn't have animation on but Vray still looks to see if the "Include Frame Number" checkbox is checked. mild annoyance 😞
