I think it is fairly possible to do it using layered glass material composed of two layers:
1 clear glass layer masked over a frosted glass layer using the design on the piece.

Sorry of the late reply Epix.

In Sketchup's Component Browser, in the In Model view, you can right click on a chosen component and 'Replace Selected'. I don't think it would maintain the scale of the components though, only the placement point.

You would also have to select all the relevant components in the model first. You might find this (ancient) selection plugin useful:
    http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=62531#p62531

We've had some thoughts of adding a mass replacement feature into Component Finder like you need, which would also maintain the scale of the components... have to get to it.

    There is the FlexSlider component.
There are other sliding door typologies we haven't gotten to yet. If you have one you'd like to see Flexed, send it by email. It would be very helpful.

I'm an architect so my workflow and requirement for parametric modelling features within my software of choice relates to that. I need windows/doors to embed into walls and be adjustable on the fly and readjust to suit. Flex Tools appears to do this. I'd like to be able to create parametrically adjustable multi-layered walls (and floors) and Profile Builder appears to do the walls part at least. I need hatching for construction docs and Skalp does that but I need them all to work together.

I'd also like to able to parametrically tag windows, doors etc and generate linked schedules from these tags but have no idea if this is even possible in SU or LO......If SU had just 10% of the useful elements of Revit but retained it's user friendliness and organic nature it'd be all things to all architectural types......But we're still waiting Trimble.

Hi there. Well, it's been a long time since this was posted but i think now we can actually find some answers or at least, updates.

Im also an architect trying desperately to compose a "perfect" worflow for Architectural Drawings and documentations and theres a bunch of pluggins able to solve this issues whether is a full bim environment or not, the question is always more about the "scale" of the contracts or what you are looking to represent in the project.

So Im absolutely sure that SU can today work in a Bim envirorment as far as you would need to. And yes, thats not an easy path, but far distant difficult and "heavy" as Revit etc. I agree many of these features could come native in SU, but maybe this complexity would turn it into an expensive choice like the others. So this balance of SU view over modeling and than project and document is the way that makes it so valuable not in terms of cost (because this is what makes it still more interesting) but in simplicity, possibilities and an absolute friendly dashboard for its price, like said.

1001 bit tools and many others. PlusSpec for example is amazing and solves many things all alone but I definitely don't agree with a pluggin platform costing way more than the software itself. Personally, there's totally non sense. Here in Brasil, there's a pluggin called Gabster and others doing the same. Amazing features for incredible cost.

So I think the way out is to elaborate this "dream" dashboard. Although it will take some time and effort at firt, when the learning curve process and acclimatization get overcomed than the whole thing will gonna work perfectly

Symmetry is not possible in SU (weld+subd of two mirrored components). To subdivide the middle part you have to combine both sides in one group/comp.

A V-Ray 3.6 update with SketchUp 2019 compatibility is being considered but it may take some time. Stay tuned.

After careful consideration a decision has been reached - only V-Ray Next (v4.0) is available for SketchUp 2019. V-Ray 3 is no longer in active development.

Oh, I see, infinitely sharp edges override the original smooth-property of the edge. Yea - that's a bug. Thanks for reporting! I've logged it to my issue tracker and will be looking into why this happens.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Gang, this is my first post and hopefully I'm bringing an easy n00b problem to solve. I've been using the Wall Cutter and Flex Door tools to place doors in my model. At first, they displayed the arcs for door swing in Plan View. However, I ungrouped my wall at some point and regrouped it and the flexdoors stayed dynamic, but I can't get them to show the door swing. Any ideas on not having to redo the doors or is that just a "deal breaker"? Thanks for any help in advance!

    Hi Ian,

    1. I checked out the model you uploaded. It seems that the door swing arcs were erased at some point. Normally the arcs are hidden (along with a few other sub-components that FlexDoor uses), and they could be erased if the 'Cleaner' tool were used on them, or if any other cleanup plugin that erases hidden geometry were used. In this case you would need to replace the doors with new ones.

    2. If you try to move some of the wallcutting components you will see that their openings won't move anymore. If you want the door and window openings to remain dynamic, the wall must be a component. Groups just don't work well - Best to always use components.

If you need to explode and regroup (re-component!) the wall, to keep the dynamic openings working as you would expect them to, you will need to follow a quick 3 step procedure:
Remove Cuts > Make the changes you need > Refresh.

You can read a more in-depth explanation about this with animations and examples at:
    https://flextools.cc/learn/wall-cutter/#Advanced-Operations

    Hope that helps,
    Yoni

    Hi

The first thing I would check is your Antialiasing settings - if they are high enough to smooth those jagged edges and try different filters.

If that doesn't help it might be some issue with color clamping - I would try to turn on/off "Subpixel clamp" option and play with it's value. Also color clamping in Frame Buffer can sometimes give such an effect.

I've logged that as an enhancement request. Need to investigate a but further regarding some techincal details of applying creasing when the mesh isn't all triangles.

And is there any future projects for a garage door? I am not good at all with programming dynamic components, so my projects with folding doors/panels and garage doors are all static for now.

    Thanks!

We have quite a list of components and other Flex tasks on our table now... but we are ALWAYS open to new ideas and suggestions. Shoot me an email to yoni@flextools.cc with example components of what you need.

For those curious, I re-rendered it on a PC with a better CPU and GPU and it came out fine, no issues. But I am still curious as to why this problem occurs in the first place, perhaps I can improve my modeling/rendering methods to avoid it.

    Hi

I think you can save the V-Ray settings as a .vrayopt file and then load it to the scenes.

Also, when you export the scene as .vrayscene it is just a text file where you can edit the options in any text editor able to handle large files like Notepad++ or EmEditor. They have options to rename the parts of the text as a batch.
