So you can see when I go to render, the colour of the materials revert back to the orginal colour. I changed the colour of the materials in sketchup to achieve what I wanted.

VfSU doesn't support textures modified by SU. You must edit the texture in a image editor.

ps. it helps if you post your VfSU version number when asking questions. Some versions behave differently from each other.

It short for my full name - Thomas Thomassen. (Oh yes it's true - and that name repeats itself down my history tree - names, as it turns out, are inheritable. Though they usually skips a couple of generations.)

Got the nick when I went to England - we where three Thomas' in the house. One was called Thom, the other by his last name, and I became ThomThom. No one used 'Thomas' in England - they like to shorten words there. Even ThomThom got shortened, but since Thom was already used, it became TT - then even that was shortened to just T. "What some more tea, TT? hihihi..." ugh....

    So there!

Yes, I always use "real" lights for main light source. Emmissive material only for the effect.

If an old scene doesn't render similar with the new version its something the ASGVis developers would like to hear about.

    Hi,
I think the problems with tutorial scenes are due to changes of vray settings in newer versions like yours.
first of all check if your model has any materials, if not use a material on it.
after that you need to go to vray material editor (the big M) and create a refraction and change its settings using the manual to obtain a translucent material, don't forget to uncheck the double sided material!
u may also need to adjust the light intensity to about 10 or more.
and turn of the GI color from the environment settings of the options.

the old manual u r using is based on the old vray plugin, u will have to achieve most of new setting numbers manually.
    hope that would help

Any bugs and crashes using VfSu should be reproted to ASGVis to they can investigate the issue.

Remember that you also need to adjust the camera exposure, as you would in the real world.
If you only adjust the intensity of the light sources you often end up with burned out areas.

I find that the VfSU default is set up for exterior, so when I do interior shots I need to adjust the exposure.

OK - DR problem went away after I loaded a new options file, There was something corrupt in my original visopt file.

As for host machine - it's just kind of annoying that that last bucket sometimes sits there for half a minute after all the buckets on the slave are done. Oh well, certainly better than no DR.

Sharper? Not sure sure what you mean here. ❓

It may be hard to tell from the posted pictures what I mean. It's ok. I think my main problem was the lack of light in the scene. I've added some more light and it's brightened that backwall up.

    Thanks

VfSU does not have tools to modify geometry - you need to use other SketchUp tools for that.
