@thomthom said: @chango70 said: Just downloaded and installed VRay V1.5. Does the render make background black for you? Yes, by default it does. They changed the default settings so it doesn't use the Sky or the Physical Camera. To use the old default settings load the 'sketchup_default' setting. Thx for the reply. I was too hasty as it came as bit of a shock to see my rendering go black. I am beginning to figure out the settings now sorry for the bother.

@earthmover said: I was curious why you are exporting out of SU as an .obj. To avoid triangulation. @earthmover said: For the money, the nexus engine is pretty darn good. I'm not debating that, far from it - modo does offer a lot for it's price. But, I have the luxury of being able to choose between Maxwell and modo's renderer (and VfSU). Given the fact that I am mainly concerned with quality and rendering times aren't that much of an issue to me (I am not a pro, thus I haven't got any deadlines to meet), it would be illogical for me to use modo's engine. Back to learning how to unwrap UV's now.

20/20 sounds familiar. I worked at Menard's home improvement store for awhile and did a lot of work in the kitchens area. Is this perhaps the kitchen design program I was using? It's been awhile since I've used it. -Brodie

Scott Schiller, the author of the tutorial mentioned above, sent me this: This is interesting stuff, I had no idea there was a Google Sketchup community etc. For animations and so on in JS, I might consider looking at some of the modern javascript libraries like Yahoo! User Interface, http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/ or JQuery, http://jquery.com/ which have useful animation components that allow you to easily create and run arbitrary tweened animations on various properties of HTML elements. I'm looking into his suggestions; if useful I will post some example videos. Chris

@thomthom said: Do you use the V-Ray for SketchUp manual? Have a look at the V-Ray manual (non-specific to host system): http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/ hmmm... failed to find anything about the subject in this manual... (but there were some good examples about the physical sky)

No error that I can remember, anyway. Just a window saying that "Sorry, Kerkythea has crashed". Then I got the blue screen on my computer and had to unplug it. I will try to find a file-sharing site and send it to you.

Cool. I figured there was a reason I turned it off As I recall it also grouped everything as one big object too which I didn't like because I'd occassionally like to move a car around or make some adjustments in Maxwell. -Brodie

Hi Radiance! I can't wait to see an exporter for LuxRender!!! Contacting Master Whaat seems a reasonable tip to me, as he developed a quite good exporter to Indigo I'd be happy to give you any scene you need: I'm a perfectionist, and I'm pretty convinced that my geometries aren't affected by normals issues or something, so they're ready to render, somewhat.. I usually model archviz scenes, so basically buildings.. Do you need interior or exterior scenes? Good luck Radiance and thanks!

You don't have to buy all of them. But yea, MOI is still a good option.

Thanks Pete. The soft shadow button will still result in hard shadows for me. Perhaps it's the ambient light/sun light slider that I need to adjust. For the grass, I'm looking for something that I can use for quick residential projects. A short mowed lawn that doesn't appear flat, without taxing render times too much. Do you think creating an ecosystem material would be my best bet? As it will render billboards in the distance, instead of trying to displace an entire lawn.

@vercors said: It should be possible to continue modelling the model I'm rendering while the renderer is still rendering? Erm... I hope you know what I mean. Yes you can @vercors said: It is possible to let an object glow in an other color like red? I was also trying a lavalamp and wanted to have red bubbles. The greater your emitter's power value, the less you'll see its original color. Set a low power, and you should see your red color, provided your emitter is not the sole light source AND you are not using Reinhard tonemapping. Also, check "color" and not "temperature" in the Emitter Attributes. @vercors said: Another question: There should be a photo in the picture frame and the folder should be colored. How did the color disappear? I'd say back face issue or special characters (é è à ç etc.) in the material/image names or folders.
