HI, I'm a newbie here. recently I'm facing the same problem. I ve done all the suggestion made above but all in vein. My skp file size some where around 250mb. Either SU is crashing or vary is not starting at all once I hit render. I'm using mountain lion on mac with 8GB ram. Pls advise. thnx. Rgds, Sanjeev

I know KT is good and most of all its free, but this one is fun.. I just never got any easier render software than this one, Before i was know z-path render which is kind of the same behavior like renderin.. but have no further news from the developer. For renders like these, I think you exaggerated . I mean, why do you need bumps, displacements ,etc. when you barely can see them . A background would do wonders though ! Take care !

Huge bugs in this area. My best advice about vispots is to make sure you have the latest 1.49.01 or you are going to have issues loading vispots that were created in that version and you are using an older release.

I don't believe our lens effects hit the render time much or at all. You will definitely have to use Photoshop (or Gimp if you don't like spending money) in the meantime though.

I've threatened to update it a few times now. It does have some use, but in the end it's just the material editor with a larger preview. If there was an online repository that could have materials submitted to it like the google warehouse, then it would have more of a purpose. Given it's current level of functionality though, it falls fairly low on the list of priorities. I believe it was made before 1.05.29 was released, so it definitely needs some love soon if it's going to continue to survive. The vrimage tool was updated after the latest VfS release, so it should work fine with VfS generated vrimages.
