Sketchup to bricscad *.dwg & back

I tested this:

1 - Created in SketchUp some 'solid groups' & then transferd (exported) from sketchup a dxf or dwg file. Then, when it was opened in Bricscad, these 'solid groups' from SU are interpreted as groups consisting of poymesh faces and not as solid objetcs... (I don't have autocrade, so I don't know if this happens in their heavy software)
2 - however, when one creates with dmextrude or dmpushpull some solid entities in Bricscad, and import them into SU they are correctly interpreted as 'solid groups'

So, who's translators are messing up ?? The thing is it would be great to be able to open a SU model in B'cad in order to do all kinds of drafting stuff that is nigh impossible in Layout as it's soooooo slow

Anyone have any ideas ?

Hi Paddyclown, hi folks.

Keep in mind that in SketchUp's terminology "solid" means "water tight". This is different from "solid" as in some CAD softwares. A solid group in SU contains only faces and thus is hollow since SU is a surface modeler.

I don't know if the problem migth be caused by that since I don't know Bricscad.

yes, you are right, infact SU obvioulsy cretaes poly meshes when it exports to *dwg... maybe there is a mesh to 'solid' (acis) converter somewhere... ? if i find it, i'll post back here
