Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

@sorgesu said: Flip. right click on the object you wish to click ( assuming it is a group or component, otherwise select it all first and then right click) look for "flip along" and choose the flip axis direction from the sub menu Right click does it 4me. thx.

I suggested this approach a long time ago... It's basically the same as WebExporter, but for Blender and exports the camera at different altitudes as well. WebExporter could be expanded to do a lot of different animations; such as shadow studies and panoramic animations.

Voder, Your excellent example gave me an idea. Wouldn't it be great to have a ruby to do the first part of your example. It seems logical enough. Two shapes: divide the first one in sections. Create a scaled slice with the second shape... Could this be done. It could even skin it for you afterwards. Peter

it is a bit long winded. but you can right click a component and "save as" a seperate SketchUp file. then you can check the file size. doesn't make sense of course, if you have lots of components in your model

This is a great book. Can't say I've mended my ways, but at least I know more about the problem. It has exercises and, if I ever get around to it, they might help.... Hmmm, doesnt sound like it should b overly troublesome. Might be worth trying to export as tiny jpegs to see if it is just running out of memory, because it might be something else. The problem is, SU cant address more than 4GB of RAM, even if youve got it. So upgrading your RAM wont actually help. Youll need to find a workaround, if the memory is the problem, of course.

I think the options will depend on which font you have selected.

Yes, that's definitely a solution however not very "economic" with component instances.

I wonder how many other people have this problem. Some guy's seem to be luckier than others;) But this is very frustrating and I consider my self an expert in sketchup. Please save us SU 7. Sketchup doesn't play by it's own rules in this regard.

There is an autolisp that I just love for working with curves to bring in to SketchUp. It is called qbrick. It can be found here: http://www.synapse-informatique.com/qbrick_en.htm I genereally use it to break all lines segments where they cross another lines segment so they come in to SketchUp cleaner. But it also works well with arcs and segments. Check out the last group of operations on the page. It looks like it lets you divide entities into segments of equal length. Hope it helps, Chris
