What a great experiment. It has inspired me to do some of my own. I'll have to post later.

The reference is too good, and too detailed to be a 3d. I will further investigate.I worked in the joinery factory and I tell you veneers do repeat specially if they are from one batch, and yes we do flip them sometimes, just to break the noticeable repeats.

@tadema said: Hello John, very nice use of textures, what size are you rendering at because they look a little soft. John Yes they are small. 1046x576 just test renders. Love your work. Show your site when people visit. They look at mine then I show them yours. Very humbling!

I think Dave is right with an L shaped desk there would be no need for the foot to be longer than any of the other feet. Your doing a nice job of it BTW

If I'm not mistaken, many will visit the graves of their ancestors bringing gifts and food to honor them. Chuc Mung Nam Moi Nguyễn... Hopefully that says something like Happy New Year Nguyen. Hi John, Don't worry about being nit-picky. Nit-pick to your heart's content as this is the type of critique I'm looking for. I'm thinking of going freelance so any tips anyone can give me can only help me perform better. Plus it prepares me for future nit-picky clients . I actually updated the image before you posted your message. It's still missing the small details that you suggested, but I've fixed the windows and added curtains behind them. Hopefully you'll agree it looks better now. Here's the image: [image: bmFy_1.jpg] I posted this on the SU Podium forums and they said some of the same things you did. I guess it's times like these I realise how much I still have left to learn about rendering. I'll be back with a new update some time in the (hopefully) near future. Regards, Ken.

A pleasure. Forgot to mention that you need a better material for the tiles. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the inputs, guys i I too think they are a little too squared and needs a little smoothing. A funny thing is that i was thinking that the idea of futuristic bobcat was stupid, but when searching for inspiration and reference i found many things that are very close to the style i have in mind. Take a look at those mech concept: http://numioh.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=%2F&offset=192 Here is another thing i designed, this might be some sort of ambulance. hi again! omiKron, thanks for your comment!! tom72, thanks a lot, yes, grass is made with the maxwell's grass feature... about DOF in vray: you have to create a z depth pass, then in photoshop use that pass to give the depth to your render using the lens blur filter... the following tutorial is for 3D max but it should work similar with SU + vray http://www.onnovanbraam.com/index.php?tutorials/depth_of_field/ Carloh, much appreciated! I used SSS (single sided) material for grass, and a texture for the blades shared by Peter Guthrie in this tutorial: http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2009/04/vray-grass-tutorial-part-2/ thanks again, best V
