First attempt to copy photograph.

You forgot to post the rendering! Just the photo.
-
Hmmmmm!, my take is that the posted pix is the rendering, and the link is the actual photo.???
-
Impressive! (start? really?)

of course sir. and my take is somebody's trying to give me a boost with encouraging words.
But hey honestly, for a while I investigate hard whether the linked image is 3d or photo. I saw some artists who will keep you thinking. Still very very far from there but im happy with my progress.

oh that one... well, Ill see... the texturing needs more tweaking for a close shot.

A boost indeed, I kept going back and fourth between the pix studying as to which one is the model and which one is the actual pix.
My compliments to you. -
Really good work. Not in love with the counter tops though.
Needs something, maybe too white... don't know -
Very good work!
But I think the reference pic is a rendering too.
-
Really? The resolution in the reference is incredible and the detail in the objects and textures. I suspect the OP rendering resolution is pretty good too if we could see the original output.
One thing in both. The reflections are so perfect and the gloss is so high, the surfaces so even. Doesn't seem likely. The edge of the counter in the reference photo looks odd. Maybe a little too perfect illumination of all faces in the reference. That's about all though.
Very successful exercise. Good work!
I looked for a reflection of the Photographer in the reference lamp shades.

me too.
If you look at the veneers you can find some repetitions, which aren't natural.
He flipped the texture sometimes, but if you search you will find it.
But that is a perfect render. I wish I could produce such a quality...

The reference is too good, and too detailed to be a 3d. I will further investigate.I worked in the joinery factory and I tell you veneers do repeat specially if they are from one batch, and yes we do flip them sometimes, just to break the noticeable repeats.
