Gloss finish on vehicles
-
I've come back to sketchUp after a long gap, (been busy with other things, sorry.)
I'm building fire fighting vehicles and quite involved but I hope they look good when their finished. The final part would be having a gloss finish.
Are they covered in professional sketchup or in a plugin? As I'm only an amateur going professional is out of my pocket. -
Reflections and Shininess are not supported in SketchUp's own simple rendering engine.
You can try to 'fake up' a glossiness with some suitably textured materials... but it is not great.
But... almost all 3rd party render-apps will let you specify all of these settings and give good results - for their own proxy shiny/reflective materials etc when a view is exported and rendered. -
Thanks for answer.
I've been looking under various heading but could not find any third parties with my problem. Could you tell me where to look? -
What's your "problem"?
There are any number of rendering application out there that will create the appearance of shiny surfaces. Kerkythea is a popular free application, There's a number of renderers that work within SketchUp as well as those that are stand alone. Pay attention to the adverts on the Sketchucation site. You'll find some of them advertised here.
