    hi andy, thanks for the reply. I tried another render with everything you suggested (except linear color mapping & resetting the gamma), and I even moved the TV stand 1mm further from the wall (which mathematically should resolve the same normals problem), but it looks almost the same and it took two minutes longer to render Also, I need to add, that in my previous post I ended with 32 subdivisions on the dome light; I'll probably edit that in.     Make sure you have the latest V-Ray installed, this was an old bug that was fixed when VR could not find a texture.

    um, I hate to ask, but what version of vray are you using and did you get it through official channels? If it's a legit copy, sounds like you might need to reinstall. If you're still having trouble, you could send an email to Chaos Group support for further assistance.

    I'm not sure which version I'm running... it was bought for me about three months ago through work. I don't see any info in SketchUp/VRAY that says which version it is, and I'm not finding any info in the application folder. I'll contact VRAY directly.

    Same problem here too. The worst part is when you do not have a wibu key with vray inserted into usb. Vrlservice is constantly opening and closing, looking for license I guess, therefore icon of vrlservice in the dock is appearing and disappearing. This is blocking fullscreen mode of many apps like VLC, Power Point, AutoCad etc. Each time vrlservice is looking for license, app closes the fullscreen mode and returns to desktop etc. Right now, everytime I go out with rMBP I have to have a wibu key with me because viewing presentations and movies in fullscreen is impossible. Like kalu I also have to force quit the application when I want to shut down the notebook. Thank you for the fix in the next release

    Still having problems after converting each model to a proxy mesh. I'm not sure if it matters but I didn't change the triangle count when exporting. Even trying to render a rather simple scene within the same model I get an error at the bottom on the window. It says to check the ruby console for errors but when I open it the console is empty.     check your Fresnel reflection value of your floor material, looks like it's too low (like 1.4 or something.) increase it to 2.0 or increase your glossiness value.

    I second that. Currently you cannot use emissive materials as lighting (like some other engines), just lighting effect, like a TV screen. You must light your scene with omni, spot, IES, dome. rect lights. An interior like this would need a combination of these.

His techniques are now considered cliche in the viz industry just because so many people have copied them over and over.
