Another cool one. However . . . please forgive me if I dare to share a few crits. The roof is tiling very obviously. It sort of distracts from the render. Also, the stone on the ground in front of the steps looks kind of flat. Are there displacement or bump maps on those? Those are just my two cents. I do not want to take anything away from your amazing models and awesome renders but I just wanted to add a little helpful criticism. I hope you don't mind. P.S. Not a crit but what is that thin line above the front porch?

This is really cool. I spent years as a forklift driver - due to an administrative error my marriage certificate actually says I am a forklift. This looks good - just need a bit of damage to the pallets, a few dents in the pallet rack and a filthy polished concrete floor and you have several of my former work places... and possibly an inappropriate sticker somewhere on the forklift

Icedkasz, Sure, I can talk a little about layers and components etc. They are the key to sanity in modeling. I have just recently started to be more disciplined about keeping things organized and have developed an imperfect, but workable layer setup. I make layer names that will keep like items near each other in the layer manager. For instance, 001_furniture_exterior-rear patio 001_furniture_exterior-front patio 001_furniture_exterior-side yard 002_trees_rear yard-distant 002_trees_rear yard-close 002_trees_ front-boulavard 018_section planes You get the idea. What this allows me to do is set up scenes with objects out of the view to be turned off so my render time is shorter. It also allows me to set up working scenes that turn most everything off so I don't have trees and stuff in my face when trying to select a wall or move a window. Groups and components are of course the key to good modeling. Everything should be one or the other. I make each wall a separate group and open it to place windows. Facia, freize boards, soffits, roof plans are all individual groups. What this does is allow a systamatic process to be used when I have to move a wall or adjust an overhang or... It seems like a lot of extra work compared to modeling free style and just going as fast as you can, but it has been my experience that you pay for it big time in the long run. If you are disiplined with groups and components your model will be easier to modify, smaller in file size, and will make your renders and scene set ups much quicker and smoother. Well it is a pretty good render, but I do not like the angle of the shot. Makes it a bit messy. You could try keeping the vertical lines more, eh... vertical . Besides that it is also good to put a image across from your building to get some reflection of the windows. Last but not least, try mimicking the sun instead of using GI for some nice shades...

Very interesting. I can tell you put a lot of work into these movies. I can't imagine how many scenes you use... I can see how these movies could be used as a commercial for tv... Cool stuff

Hey Richard i remember you from back in the day at PPB and the early beta's of maxwell ! I would recommend 2 years with artlantis to my worst enemies. Joking aside it was like training with ankle weights on. Now i am literally bounding along. It did teach me the basics though of composition and more importantly lateral thinking lol. The client did a lot of chin scratching and mis-informed observations followed by reducing my asking price by 1/3rd. My next visit saw the bridge view printed and framed in the focal point of his office same old story Richard ! Studio is really a godsend for composition it makes up for our beloved sketchup's inadequacies with high poly support. I have found the software to be fantastic along with the plugin which now with fire is a revelation. Even though i threw my artlantis libraries to the wind i have not regretted my migration. I can recommend maxwell highly, everything is very predictable and beautiful.

I have four books by Delacorta; Diva, Nana, Luna, and Lola. Nana is hard cover, but except for Diva, do not know of Jean Jacques Beneix's works. I will however look for them. My Architectural work includes European shops in the Pacific, including Remona, Testoni, Celine, and Etro.
