@Mike-Amos said in Hot Rod: Are we going to see anything new from you sometime? Been thinking about posting some of the many historic one-off vehicles I have done. Did the only two remaining active sea tractors, both with very interesting histories. Here's a couple shots of the South Sands Sea Tractor [image: 1767228958262-2019-04-01_185212.png] [image: 1767229094789-2022-08-18_061411-b-recovered.png]

@kwistenbiebel said: I am currently looking into Rhino as well. It is a complete modeling suite , plugin based as well(Bongo for animation, Grasshopper for parametrics etc...) and it has all the major render engines. When things would go bad for Sketchup in the future, Rhino is a good backup. It has a built-in 'Layout' and its suited for printing 2D drawings. Not a bad option... Rhino is an amazing program. It has a very very small learning curve to be able to do the basics quite well. McNeel really does a bang up job making the program user friendly for how advanced and accurate it is. RhinoScript also does parametrics with a bit more intricacy/accuracy than Grasshopper, given it is much more difficult to use. McNeel is also working on a new renderer called Toucan to replace Flamingo (which is getting quite dated), and it looks extremely promising. SketchUp to Podium will always be my go to just because its so dang fast and easy, but Rhino is a pretty incredible tool, imho.

Thanks Boo. I keep staring at this one. I'm going to redo the background that have a sunset. The colors in the building seem to have a "glow". I'll upload if it turns out!

Much appreciation for Myron, I would definately say he had a part in that game one way or another. Solo, the game was surely one of the best ive ever experienced...if your guys can get their s$&t figured out and get T.O. the hell out of there, they will be far better. It is a shame they were not able to utilize Williams at all. But, have faith because they are "Americas Team" right? Or did that change to the Steelers...? Steelers Nation, woooo. Haha

There is something wrong with lights. Probably background image needs a bit more brightnes. Do something with wall thicknes or this looks unnatural. Otherwise nice start! Keep working on this!

http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=90&topic=5121.0 Try that. It worked for me (check out the youtube link to see the result). I wrote a tutorial of how I have did it and I have done a few other quick animations with the same method. All the things that are suggested by dalomar are accurate, but I have so far been able to successfully manage animations without having to do any IR calculating or anything like that. Im just telling you this, because the way I did was very simple and straight forward, but it may not be full proof. So I would resort to other suggestions if my method does not work. One other thing, I did all my animations on a single computer but a beast of one and with a lot of geometry in my scene (which seems to be the case for you here) it took about a week straight to get about a 18 second output (if you use a 30 sec frame rate). And laslty, im not too sure if you can get rid of the jerky transitions between scenes because of the way SU handles them. There may be ways that I am not aware of, but I have yet to see any real good solution (it would be great if someone told me im wrong because I wish that this could be fixed). Good luck and please post your results. Oh and I would also like to know where you got the plants if you dont mind sharing?

I see, you were reffering to demo restriction. Yes, demo is limited to 500x500 output.

@frederik said: Hi Matsuo, I'm not sure what render preset you've used for this, but it doesn't look real to me... It's somehow too CG'ish, which to me suggests that you've used a very low render preset... How long have you been working with KT...?? I think you should try working with a Studio setup... Please take a look at the Frederik's studio lighting setup (really, Clipi's) thread at the KT Forum... I'm sure you can improve this and take it to the next level... I've just downloaded version 3 of the scene, from the forums. Will post the result (using a new joypad) after rendering is complete. Cheers for the tips!

I would use a bigger (more x more) texture and expand it more, so you have no more cuts in your water surface. And I would use a single Background area. The edge doesnt look realistic. The boat itself is nice.

Good job on the wrenches and the billboard. Good photo of your son. Yeah, I'd look twice at that billboard. Turned out great! Glad the client liked it as well. Smart client.

@unknownuser said: @nomeradona said: @unknownuser said: Good work. The shadows those bowls cast look too well-defined to me, though. Obviously I could be wrong. actually you are right stinkie. i will explain the workflow. its a kind off choosing between egg and chicken. see vray doesnot support IES photometric. in order to have the ies effect, there is a workflow introduced by andeciulala using opacity map. this opacity map will be place on the receptacle and just like a gobo map will cast the light with an ies effect. but the problem of course you can do that if you are using soft shadow. soft shadow wont show the effect. on the last image that you are using the radius is actuially "0" therefore there would be no softshadow. so the casting of shadow is really sharp. of course i could edit in photoshop. nevertheless.. sharp eyes you have there.... Ah, I see (I think! Still something of a Vray noob! ). Thanks for taking the time to explain this, Nomer. no not all you actually saw it. and wondered with it...
